Figo | Pet Insurance Review

When my cat started showing symptoms that something was wrong, it made the decision easier to follow through with all of the vet requested xrays and lab tests to be able to finally diagnose him. Without pet insurance, these bills would have mounted up when I am already buried in medical bills. The filing of the claims is super easy and the turn around for reimbursement is super quick. I appreciate that his annual deductible isn't a Jan to December kind of thing, but from the date I enrolled to one year after that. I worried that coming up already, my deductible would be starting over again.

I've done a lot of research on different companies that offer insurance and getting pet insurance has been the best decision ever. Its saved us emotional and pocketbook trauma while in a scary time with our cat. For Figo, filing claims is easy and payout is quick. The customer service overall is very nice as well. My issue, and overall rating, with Figo was because of the way the claim was handled when we lost our cat to cancer. Upon filing my final claim for her cremation, they refused the claim. Even when I showed them it clearly states it is covered.... Apparently cremation is the disposal of 'trash' and not covered - which added insult to injury here, especially when they were so great up until then.

We have filed a few claims with Figo, one very large one recently after our dog had TPLO surgery. The claim was approved and closed in less than 24 hours. Also, the money is deposited quickly into your account. The service is phenomenal and we do not have any complaints. This insurance has saved us from some very large hospital bills.

Ok. If you don’t end up using the insurance, it’s easy to question what you’re really paying for. With that being said, the whole purpose of pet insurance is to be prepared for those unexpected occurrences. A few months ago, my husband and I had to rush one of our dogs to the emergency vet. We had no clue what was going on with her and it turned out that she had some sort of anaphylactic reaction to something (which we still have no idea what caused it). The staff couldn’t get a blood pressure on her, she had weak pulses, her heart rate was extremely high, she had diarrhea and was vomiting up blood...she had to stay at the vet for over 24 hours. When we visited our sweet girl and she was more stable, the doc told us that we did the right thing and if we brought her in any later that we most likely would’ve lost her. Enough with the background story, anyone whose had to take their pet into an emergency clinic knows how fast (and high) the cost rises. Figo and the app made this difficult time extremely easy. The only thing I had to do was start my claim through the app and scan my bill. If Figo needed extra info, they reached out to the vet for whatever they needed. You’re able to view your claim status through the app as well. I have to say my favorite feature is the text support capability. I reached out with a question in regards to my claim status and they informed me they were waiting for the vet to send more info. A few days later I had a check deposited into my account. Figo takes the hassle out of filing a claim and they always reached out and asked about how our dog was doing. The only (minor) issue I’ve had with this company is some confusion in regards to what is able to get reimbursed. Unless you pay for the extra coverage, fees for the office visit are not covered. I was under the impression that I would be reimbursed for the office visit since it was considered an emergency... I was pretty sure I had read this somewhere on the website. I either read it wrong, or it was written poorly... regardless, I’m very happy with Figo in every aspect!

Excellent insurance. Excellent customer service. Deliver what is expected. I would choose them again and again.
