Figo | Pet Insurance Review

We will be canceling our insurance very soon. What Figo “covers” is almost a joke. We pay over $100 per month for our two dogs. They covered only $90 of their routine, annual visit (which cost us almost $1000) despite us paying for the advanced wellness plan. Their limits are insanely low - $45 for exams, something similar for teeth cleanings. How does that help at all? Teeth cleanings in our area range from $600-$1500 for a single dog. Oh, and they’re relentless about “pre-existing conditions.” They denied our recent visit to the vet, where we found out our dog has gingivitis, because there were notes in older visits about her having plaque. We’re better off just putting the money we’re throwing away on this insurance into a savings account to pay for these things ourselves.

A Ten Dollar a month hike is completely unacceptable especially since no services have ever been rendered.

I think Figo can be great! They started off amazing but when it came time to make a claim I was very disappointed. My dog got really sick and was in and out of the hospital for 3 days. Come to find out he had an allergic reaction to something but the symptoms he was showing were vomiting, lethargic, and not eating. Since i had said at one vet appointment less than a year previous that he had vomited,it was considered a pre existing condition so it was not covered to the full amount. I used to work as a vet assistant and almost any condition a dog ends up with, the symptoms are vomiting diarrhea and not eating. So to say that he had vomited once before that had nothing to do with an allergic reaction and it be considered pre existing was crazy to me. Other than that the insurance for my cat has been great. Hope it continues to get better.

Good luck making a claim. Basically NOTHING is covered the first 6 months... there's a "waiting period" for pretty much everything. If you dog licks his paws in January and the vet gives him cream to put in than 5 months other has an ear infection they somehow say it's related and deny your claim... CAVEAT EMPTOR. I cancelled my policy after being denied for 4 claims in a row.
