How to Save Money at Rock Lake Veterinary Care
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Absolutely Fantastic! My cat had been in a fight and was injured. The doctor and techs were caring, gentle and very professional. They took care of my little buddy and sent me home knowing more about proper care for him. I think these folks are absolute lifesavers and am so glad Spring Hill finally got QUALITY vet care. Thanks so much for opening!! Took our 2nd cat to DR. Warner today. He's a senior citizen and needed a thorough exam. Dr. Warner has so much good information and explains things in a reasonable and caring manner. His knowledge of cats and their health issues is amazing. Thank goodness he decided to bring his skills to Spring Hill!! His staff is fantastic too. The receptionists are friendly, helpful and professional. The techs are thorough and ask all the right questions!! 5 stars again!! And for all you "holistic" flower children out there. Go back to whatever you're smoking and leave a professional with a medical degree alone. You freaks like to think you know more than a DOCTOR who spent years in medical training just because you read something on the internet. I'm truly glad you decided to go somewhere else. It leaves the expert medical opinions for those of us who respect those who devote their lives to saving our fur babies.

The nurses were very friendly and great with my terrified dog Luna. The doctor was also very kind and wasn't judgemental about the flea problem we were having. Instead he gave me a solid recommendation of what I needed to do and where I could get what I needed. Most importantly to me, he was VERY knowledgeable. If he were closer to where I live, I'd always go there. I still might! Great place to take your pet!!!

I was thoroughly impressed with Dr. Warner and his staff. My pup was nervous at first, but they all made him feel comfortable, and he was relaxed by the time we left. The facility was clean and well kept.

My dogs are extremely well taken care of and spoiled. They eat the best food and have the best supplements. However I titer after the puppy shots for all but rabies, (required by law,) and steer clear of anything but core vaccinations. I avoid lepto as there's nearly 20 species of it and if you're not targeting that particular over it does no good. Neither vaccination or antibiotics will save a dog that gets the sudden onset type and the rest are highly treatable. The primary issues with the vaccine are that it doesn’t provide effective immunization and it has an extremely high rate of adverse reactions. A 2015 study by Merk admits it's shortcomings. Also a 2017 study by SF Lau et al at UNiversity Putra Malaysia which found only 3% of vaccinated dogs had positive titers. With the Lyme vaccine it's one of the most dangerous vaccines on the market. Dogs can get the exact symptoms of actually being bitten by a tick and contracting Lyme, such as arthritis pain for life and Lyme nephritis (kidney disease). It also contains dangerous ingredients such as formaldehyde, aluminum, mercury, and thimerosal which can cause chronic inflammation and can result in allergies, cancer and organ failure. It can take days, weeks, or even years to manifest. Aluminum and thimerosal can also travel to the brain and cause inflammation there. There was a human version of the vaccine from '99 to '03 or so but it was withdrawn due to it's numerous side effects and even deaths. The most common was arthritis. A 2006 study also showed that most dogs that are infected don't show any symptoms of the disease. Facts show that 70% – 90% of dogs in some areas of New England test positive for Lyme. About 40% of dogs in Pennsylvania test positive. This doesn't mean that they show symptoms. Puppies are most likely to, but the symptoms most often recede quickly. However I do take steps to mitigate against it such as using organic virgin coconut oil on them, feeding a safe level of fresh garlic, (yes there is a safe level. Levels too high will cause anemia,) and spraying them down with an essential oil mix of cedarwood, peppermint, rosemary, geranium, lemongrass, and thyme. The vet had no respect for my choices and tried to hound me to stick my puppy with these shots. I made very clear on my first visit I didn't want them, yet he started right back in on my second visit. He said something about respecting his knowledge at which point I pointed out that either way, it was my dog and my decision. He treated me like I was stupid and a bad owner for refusing. It took a lot to stand up to him and a weaker person would have backed down and given in. That's not alright. I was already not ever going to go back to this practice and he stated that he didn't want me back because I didn't go along with what HE wanted for my dog. Well, I guess at least we agreed on something. I certainly won't be back with my 3 dogs. I've found a wonderful vet now that can take all my animals and I'm happy to say I'll never step for here again. I'm sorry sir, I know you see a lot of bad owners here, but that doesn't make you the God of all animal decisions and it doesn't mean that all the owners you see are bad. Steer clear if you lean towards the holistic route!
