How to Save Money at Timberlake Veterinary Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

When you communicate that a booster shot will be a 15 minute appointment people figure scheduling an appointment 45 minutes later would be more than suffice I guess because I’m younger they think it’s OK to stick me in a room and not communicate with me. I sat there for 30 minutes before I stepped out of the room to ask what was going on and she said I was waiting to see the vet…. I said, what are you talking about? You’re supposed to be just giving me a booster shot which they said would be done by a veterinary assistant I have an appointment after this she said oh OK I’m sorry with an attitude & said we can go ahead and just do the booster shot and you can go… i said ma’am that’s exactly what I was scheduled for today so that would be great…. 30 mins later then I have to scramble to get to my appointment that I had ample time to get to my last booster appointment was 15 minutes as they stated it should be, so why would I expect this one to be any different ….I did not have time for anything else. I could come back at a later date but not communicating to me that I’m sitting in here waiting for the vet when I’m not even expecting to see the vet and it was not communicated to me nor did I agree on that because as I stated, I did not have the time to do so. I really don’t recommend this place. they did not even suggest an allergy shot for my dog or anything helpful they will just take your money. She seems like a very inexperienced young vet.

Everyone there is so nice to me and my pups. They're really gentle during exams and can properly restrain if needed, causing way less stress for my pups (and me). I've been to other vets that absolutely manhandled my labradoodle mutt, but Timberlake absolutely nails it every time. They have reasonable prices and scheduling availability too. All around, I have a great experience every visit. I absolutely trust them to care for my pets and I recommend them to people all the time!

I took my anxious and fearful pup there for the first time a couple of weeks ago, and I was pretty nervous because he is reactive towards other dogs and has been fearful of strangers in the past as well. However, Dr. Bundy and her staff were extremely professional and calm and it really put my dog at ease! He usually takes awhile to warm up to strangers but he was giving them kisses and letting them pet him pretty much instantly, which was seriously impressive to me! I really loved being able to meet all the wonderful people who worked there and having that personal connection. I've never been to a vet clinic that open and caring before! They really treated us like family. Now I can never move 😉 **Updated review** Almost 6 years after leaving this review, I can still say that Dr. Bundy and the staff at Timberlake are the best in the business. Sadly (for us!), Dr. Bundy is retiring, but these last few years she has always treated Murphy and I with the most compassion and respect as if he was her own dog. She has helped us through some pretty scary times for my boy and I, and has always done her best to keep me 100% informed about my sweet boy’s health. I learned so much from her over the years because she always took the time to clearly explain test results, conditions, etc. The world is painfully short on true healthcare professionals, but I am so so glad and so lucky to have been able to call her my boy’s vet for so many years because she is one of the best of them. I know she will leave Timberlake in good hands, but we will miss her! The staff at Timberlake are so knowledgable and passionate that I really can’t say enough good things. I am so grateful for them and I hope to be able to take my boy there for a long time to come.

Timberlake vet was awesome, everyone was very friendly at the desk. Dr. Bundy and her staff were absolutely 💯 fabulous. Everyone took complete time to care for my husky Sheba. (Who is in a lot of pain). I also love that she does the exam right there with you nice and gentle. Instead of taking the dog in the back were you cant see whats going on then the vet talks to you for 2mins like my other place. Sheba is set up for a surgery hopefully she will feel much better. I will be switching all my huskies to Dr. Bundy. Blaze, Snowball &, Wolfie look forward to visiting 😁

The staff is very friendly and have great rapport with any of our dogs we bring in. Dr. Bundy is very thorough with physical exams and spends time with your pet. Even if running behind, it is never a rushed exam for your pet.
