How to Save Money at Southeast Veterinary Neurology
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

The care team at SEVN fit my baby girl into their schedule quickly, performed her exam and testing, provided a diagnosis, and performed a successful surgery - all within 24 hours of me calling them from my primary vet's office. Our girl had completely lost function of her legs and couldn't walk at all on Thursday, yet when I picked her up on Friday, she walked right out to me with a grateful smile. The entire team was kind and helpful and so good at explaining the medical information and showing me scans so that we could make the best decision. But more importantly, they spoiled our old gal with an affection and gentleness that made her feel comfortable and safe. She knew she was being cared for and you could see that in her eyes (and kisses) when we were saying goodbye to the team! I'm so thankful this practice was nearby and made this "miracle" happen for our girl so quickly. She's back to being happy and healthy and home with her family…and we are SO glad! Thank you Dr. Caroline, Dr. Taylor, and the wonderful nurses and receptionists for your talents and kindness! Dr. Caroline was so thorough and informative. She explained everything in such detail and answered all of my questions with patience and thoughtfulness. By the time I left, I knew our little lady was in the best hands and they would take good care of her! The kindness from everyone, starting from the moment we walked through the door.

The entire staff from the front desk to the physicians was a wonderful experience. The care and concern they gave to our dog, Sharkey, helped us through a very traumatic and difficult experience. We are so grateful for everyone at SEVN. Dr. Caroline will forever be in our hearts. Seriously. Amazing. We were informed every step of the way because their communication was so excellent. Always setting expectations in a gentle and loving way. Dr. Taylor went out of her way to make sure we met her as a care partner as well, which was appreciated. Kyna and Carolina at the front desk were helpful and so friendly. The vet tech team/nurses were also a reflection of the rest of the staff. Sam, Hailey, Brittany and Kris gave our little feral goblin so much love. Showing patience and understanding that she is very special and sometimes wants to eat you. Again, so thankful for this amazing staff at SEVN. the communication. Superb.

The support and care at SEVN are incredible! Dr. Taylor and the entire staff are so helpful and kind. They take their time making sure I am comfortable with the procedure and recommendations they feel are the best for Rocky. We have used SEVN for our other dog, Jazzy, also. She has had 2 back surgeries and is doing so well today. Thank you for being there for us, and thank you for being in Virginia Beach, which is close to us. :-) The entire staff, including everyone that helps me when I call in for an emergency are great. Both receptionists are so pleasant, Carolina for one. Brittany was very understanding at my last visit. And, of course, we think very highly of Dr. Taylor. Great Care and Location!

Overall, phenomenal experience. Everyone I dealt with was very pleasant and compassionate about Kobe's injury and were concerned for him and my family. Dr. Caroline is the best - extremely knowledgable, caring and funny, which is a great combination when you're stressed about your hurting pet. Many thanks to the entire team!

Staff is so caring. They share information in an understandable way. We could tell that they truly care about our fur baby. We feel that we got great information moving forward. The resident doctor was so down to earth and helpful! Katherine, who explained the medication changes was great as well. All staff the we encountered were so kind and positive! The explanation of options and what would be best for our girl was easy to understand. We felt like we were on the same page.
