We’ve lived 10 minutes from Mount Scott for 30 years ! Dr. Barry was owner and then Karen bought the practice! It was great ! Now it’s corporate and the vibe is not the same. We needed some blood work done ! A family member, PHD pathologist, suggested the best method to achieve an “accurate” CBC since “Mt Scott” attempt was unsuccessful ! They didn’t care to listen and wanted me to spend another $199 to do it their way ! Thankfully we did find a “great” vet at another clinic, who only charged us $43 for the same test, cares about our pets, listens, communicates well 👍

my childhood dog was a patient here, so when it came to choosing a vet for my kitten, i immediately thought of mt. scott animal clinic. i brought my kitten, zelina for a routine visit and they were so careful with her and asked all the right questions. i highly recommend taking your fur babies here!

This is my third or fourth veterinary practice since I moved to Portland, and it is hands down the best of all of them. The office is patient and helpful and reasonable, the veterinary technicians are patient and listen, the veterinarian I have seen has been patient and gentle with my cats, and problems are identified quickly and efficiently, without multitudes of pointless tests. This is the best vet for pricing, too - I've paid less here for emergent issues than I paid for regular checkups elsewhere.

Just got a postcard from Mt Scott reminding me to have Josie’s shots. Well the last time I took her there the place was completely different from what I had been used to. Josie had a growth on her leg. Without looking at her bloodwork or any exam Dr Chicory suggested she be euthanized. No exam and no questions. The good news is I transferred Josie’s records to Gladstone vet clinic and she was happy and healthy for more than two years. Obviously a corporate entity now if they are sending postcards to people who have not been patients for years.

Been taking my dog here for the past calendar year and have had a really mixed experience. Treatment plans are not very clear (very little guidance and next steps, or scheduling of future appointments for follow up), costs of treatment are never made clear prior to booking, and communication between vets and techs seems pretty mixed. There seems to have been a large amount of turnover there as well, but I'm not sure if that means there is actual turnover or if they've just been able to hire more folks. My dog was adopted from the county shelter, and at the last visit the vet said that they, "don't recommend breeding this type of dog," like I had some sort of say in the birth or creation of a dog I adopted. I found that to be pretty weird. They're good enough but I'm going to be switching to somewhere with better communication towards treatment and costs.
