How to Save Money at Skillman Animal Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I have been bringing my dogs to Skillman Animal clinic for several years, and I couldn't be happier with the care they always receive. The entire staff and doctor is professional, compassionate, and incredibly knowledgeable. Dr. Tadros is the best!! He goes above and beyond to ensure that every visit is thorough, taking the time to explain diagnoses and treatment options clearly. Whether it's a routine check-up or an emergency, I always feel that my pet is in the best possible hands. The clinic is clean, well-organized, and they even give out complimentary pet supplies!!! My pets are always treated with the utmost kindness and respect, and they always receive personalized attention tailored to their needs. I highly recommend this clinic to any pet owner looking for exceptional veterinary care. Thank you for the outstanding service and dedication to the well-being of our furry family members! :)

I'll start with a positive- yea they usually can have you come in on short notice... That's about it. My cat was ill and I brought her in. When we finally got to the exam room- the vet assistant "scruffed" my 10 year old nearly 13lb cat. It was traumatizing for me, my cat and my partner. You aren't supposed to do that to grown cats! It's painful and frightening for them. Apart from that- random terminology was just blurted out and when I or my fiancé tried to ask clarifying questions we were still getting vague answers. We also were told to come back to get our cat an ultrasound. We were given 3 different times for this appointment which never actually happened. Oh- and my bill was over $1100. I will never bring my cat back to this place. Our experience which was stressful to begin with- was intensified tenfold by the awful way my pet and her situation was handled. They lack both compassion and empathy. It's only about money for them. Trust me- you can find a better level of care for a lot less money.

Well it started off good but it ended BADLY! my cat was being treated for hyper thyroid disease. I have been treating him for his thyroid for the past two years we had come up with a comprehensive plan that was working. Then after being tested again he had kidney disease and his thyroid was fine. In the meantime I had gone away to Florida for one week and I was all out of my cats kidney food . I had made an emergency inquiry through Chewy which I have done with this particular animal clinic many times before. This time chewy had reached out to Skillman animal clinic multiple times and they did not respond. They faxed them, called them and they emailed them they never responded. Needless to say my husband was left with just to give him junk food all week and on April 5, 2024 he passed away, I’m infuriated with them because my cat had to eat bad food, which I’m sure did not help his predicament not only was it cruel to not even give me a couple of cans of cat food to make it through the week. They never notified me that they no longer except chewy direct prescription authorization they have miscommunication going on in their office one doctor said to stop the thyroid medication. The other doctor said don’t stop the thyroid medication. I find you all negligent I had high hopes I thought it was a good place, but I have been severely let down by this situation. Sell the cat food !!! Why didn’t you? You gave me other items before . and since when did you stop I have documentation that you have authorized prescription food from chewy before shame on you.

Excellent service. My pregnant cat got X-Rays a week ago and the photos were able to be sent to my phone right away. They predicted pretty accurately the number of kittens she was going to have. Pricing is ok, cheaper than the other clinic I used to go to. Can’t wait to bring the newborn kittens in here 🥰

I see that Skillman Animal Clinic likes to reply to people's reviews saying things like "I'm sorry you feel that way" rather than taking actual accountability, so I am here to share my story as well. Visiting Skillman Animal Clinic was an extremely traumatic experience for me and my cat. They scruffed my adult cat and handled her roughly the whole way through. You are NOT supposed to scruff adult cats! Skillman claims scruffing is "fine." All you have to do is a cursory google search of "should you scruff an adult cat?" to learn that no, you should not, because it is painful and traumatic. This was further verified when I spoke to an (actually helpful and intelligent) veterinarian at my new clinic. The doctor and assistants were vague and unhelpful when I tried asking questions. They use a "traveling mobile specialist" to conduct ultrasounds for pets - the problem is, he doesn't show up when you've booked an appointment. They'll keep pushing the time back further and further until they cancel your appointment. Between the aggressive treatment towards my cat and the rudeness towards me, as well as the nasty replies to others who have left Google reviews, I cannot recommend enough that every pet owner stay far away from this place. I welcome your nasty reply, Skillman Animal Clinic. Go for it.
