How to Save Money at Gold Coast Center for Veterinary Care
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

It’s been 2 weeks since Sawyer lost his battle against lymphoma and about 14 months since the initial diagnosis on March 1, 2024. It was very scary and upsetting to say the least when we received the diagnosis and prognosis (4-6 weeks if untreated) but very fortunate and so glad we picked Gold Coast to care for Sawyer. Our experience, from the people at the front desk, to the techs and doctors, was wonderful. It was a little stressful for Sawyer (and the techs) initially at the start of the CHOP program, but Sawyer settled in and the staff worked with him and got to know his special personality and what a sweet, lovable boy he was. Dr. Holman was very thorough, patient and detailed throughout Sawyer’s treatment, explaining in detail the treatment options and pros and cons of each. Sawyer finding and bonding with his special friend Karina was very comforting, for both me and Sawyer. Staff would routinely check in on his condition after each treatment and any inquiries I had in between visits were promptly responded to by Dr. Holman, Karina and the staff. Dr. Holman and the staff continued to go above and beyond until Sawyers’ last breath. Sawyer declined quite rapidly his last day and at about five in the evening I reached out to Dr. Holman to advise Sawyer was leaving us, Dr. Holman advised us to bring him in and they would stay late for him, I would not arrive until around seven. It meant so much to us that Sawyer in his last moments would also be surrounded by the people that cared for him and became his extended family over the last 14 months. Gold Coast became Sawyer and my home away from home for about 14 months and at the end of the day, Dr. Holman, Karina and the entire staff came to care and love Sawyer as their own, which is what you would want and hope for. Goes without saying I would highly recommend Gold Coast. Tom Horyczun and Family

Dr. Petroff and her assistants are truly amazing! Her bedside manner is truly amazing and the way she handles her patients especially the tough to handle ones is truly amazing. She understands them and makes them feel so much better, especially my frenchie Kylo Ren! Thanks to her being part of his medical team/needs she is making my boy feel so much better and less scared, anxious and aggressive. She gets what he needs and is making my boy so much better. She is always there and answers any questions I have and is so compassionate. Thank you Dr. Petroff!!

My dog Indy has been having anxiety related behavior problems for months now. He became fearful of crossing the threshold from one room to another. We couldn't understand what was wrong, so my vet put him on Prozac. When that stopped working, she sent me to the Behavior Specialist- Dr Megan Petroff at Gold Coast Center. Dr. Petroff spent a lot of time observing Indy and realized that he had structural problems with his hips and back. She prescribed the appropriate medications for that and recommended that I also see Dr. Ariel Kravitz, the Orthopedist that also practices there. Both of the doctors and the staff were extremely helpful, competent, and kind. I am so very grateful that Dr. Petroff saw what was really behind Indy's anxiety. Now that he is on the right medication his symptoms have improved dramatically! My Vet is wonderful, but sometimes you need a specialist to get to the bottom of a serious problem. And if you do need someone, I highly recommend this Center that clearly has very knowledgeable people working there.

Goal Coast Center for Veterinary Care took exceptional care of my dog. Dr Kravitz performed the CCl surgery and Riley and rehab staff got him back on track. A very clean, attentive and caring office including all support staff. Recommended if your pet needs special attention.

I have had the pleasure of working with Dr Megan Petroff, a veterinary dog behaviorist, and I can't recommend their services highly enough! From the moment we started our sessions, it was clear that they had a deep understanding of canine behavior and psychology. My four month old puppy, Rosie, was demonstrating signs of aggression and guarding. 😞 Dr Petroff took the time to assess my dog's medical and psychological needs and developed a tailored plan that addressed specific issues we were facing. Dr Petroff was incredibly patient, not only with Rosie, but also with me, ensuring I understood each recommendation and protocol. Their methods and recommendations (like seeing a canine neurologist) made a noticeable difference in my dog's behavior, helping to build a stronger, healthier, and happier bond between us. What I appreciated most was Dr Petroff’s commitment to empowering and supporting me as we navigated some challenging times. She provided insightful advice and practical tools that I could implement at home, leading to lasting changes. Rosie is now more confident and her pain and associated behaviors are managed! I highly recommend seeking the expertise of Dr Petroff if you have questions or need help with your dog’s behavior. Dr Petroff’s knowledge, compassion, and dedication truly make a difference!
