How to Save Money at CROWN Veterinary Dental Specialists
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I recently brought my 14-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Tyler, to see board-certified Dr. Kristen Scott for an evaluation of his severe periodontal disease. Both his primary vet and cardiologist had warned me that putting him under anesthesia could lead to potential heart failure. But his quality of life had declined so significantly that we were faced with weighing that risk against the alternative. If there was even a chance Tyler could make it through surgery, I wanted to give him that chance. We proceeded with a full cardiology evaluation, which gave Dr. Scott the information she needed to carefully plan the procedure. Her plan included a board-certified anesthesiologist and a skilled support team. Thanks to their expert care, Tyler not only made it through the surgery—he did amazingly well, far better than I expected. While heart failure was always a possibility, I’m overjoyed to say that Tyler pulled through. Today, he’s bright, happy, eating well, and no longer in pain. The difference in his quality of life is incredible. Dr. Scott’s skill and compassion are a gift to all pet owners. I will be forever grateful to her and her team for giving Tyler a new lease on life. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

First of all, WOW. Dr. Kristin Scott and her team were absolutely incredible with our problem child, Murphy. This team walked us through every step, answered all our questions, and never talked down to us while explaining everything. They showed us so much kindness and patience every step of the way with our dog's reactivity and overwhelming anxiety. They met him where HE was at mentally by respecting his boundaries and showering him with love and affection. They treated him like their very own dog. You can tell this is a special team the moment you first meet them, and they really do love their job and what they do. There wasn't a SINGLE moment I was worried or anxious throughout the surgery, because I knew my best friend was in the best hands in the world. If you have ANY veterinary dental needs, if you aren't going here, you are making a mistake. We drove 5+ hours to work with this team, and would gladly do it again.

OMG what is there not to say when they are awesome . From checking in at the front desk to the doctors and vet-techs and also a shout out to the office manager, they were so caring. My poor Chihuahua had a fractured jaw and was in so much pain and just wanted to bite everyone even though she did not have any teeth. They knew how to calm her down and they were able to do her exam. I’m going to give a special shout out to Dr. Duncan. She was AWESOME. Even after hours she would answer my questions. I don’t think I could’ve gotten through this without her. If your dogs need any assistance with dental, CROWN Veterinarian Dental Specialist in Charlotte is the place to go. By the way before we went there, we had to go to emergency vet. They could not do much and told us to go see a specialist and I found CROWN the next day. They got her in the same day and did her surgery it was that important. They made the time for my little Missy girl. Again, I wanna thank everyone in the office for helping us.

I'm blown away by the care provided to our pup! Right from the first phone call to the follow up, the staff and doctors have been so attentive and wonderful. Our pup is nearly 14 and needed the last of her teeth removed due to advanced dental disease. The staff were kind and have an obvious love for animals. They all went above and beyond in the care for our girl ❤️

I would recommend Crown Veterinary Dental without hesitation! They have taken such excellent care of my cat Winnie during her full dental extractions and stomatitis treatment. Every staff member I’ve had the opportunity to interact with has gone above and beyond expectations to make it as easy of a process as possible for both Winnie and myself. You can tell that everyone there genuinely loves animals and Dr. Scott is extremely thorough, attentive, and knowledgeable. I am so grateful that my girl is now the happiest and healthiest she has ever been!
