How to Save Money at Banfield Pet Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

They were negligent and double vaccinated my cat. They didn’t apologize or was emphatic but instead said it was good that my cat got this which is mal practice. I was going to confront them but I had conflicting appointment right after this hour long appointment( which was suppose to be a quick check up since I last saw them in October) because they were irresponsible. Instead I contacted corporate on the phone and will do so again to file a report. It’s terrible that I always get a different veterinarian every visit which basically suck because i don’t have any knowledge of what type of person my cat is in the care of. I definitely will be canceling my subscription after my year end.:( new cat owners beware )

Today I was welcomed by front desk really Nice, I saw Dr. David and his assistant ( i forgot her name) they were amazing His assistant keeping me updated of the Charges of everything, Bobby was dealing with flea/Scratches issues, Dr. David, he was educating me on how to deal with these issues later on, letting me know that these things can come back and I need start taking care of it now so this Doesn’t keep happening and more spending out-of-pocket, The assistant, she was amazing, letting me know the charges of everything and also Handling Bobby with such a care❤️ I usually tend to get busy and forget about the vet visit, But as from right now, I’m really pleasant on how this vet visit was compared to other Vets I went, Thank you so much for taking care of bobby and educating me about everything! 🐾🐶

If you have a gut feeling that your dog is ill, don’t take them here. Took my shih tzu here THREE TIMES because she seemed to be losing sight, and each time the doctors told us nothings wrong. Clearly something was wrong, because now 2 months later my dog is bumping into things she can’t see. Talking to other people, ive been told that the place has also done nothing for the health checks of their pets, and the price charged for their “services” is ridiculous. I’ve been told to better spend my time at other doctors.

Made an appointment for my cat 1 month in advance. I confirmed the appointment multiple times days in advance. The day before my appointment I got a call stating that there would not be a provider to take my appointment that day and that I would need to reschedule. Why make me confirm my appointment that I made a MONTH IN ADVANCE to then tell me to reschedule last minute. I see this is also a reoccurring issue. Pretty unorganized.

My fiancé and I recently got a 7 month old puppy who needed a new home. Unfortunately we had very minimal info when it came to his vaccinations and needs medication-wise. We started looking into a few options for vets, then we chose Banfield Pet Hospital. Once we got there and met the nurse, Bree and Dr. Faranda, we immediately knew we’d made the right choice for our veterinarian. They made us feel right at home, answered all of our questions, and were extremely informative. I was beyond highly impressed by both of them with how they handled our dog, since he’s a bit skidding still, and cared for each and every one of his needs. If you’re looking for a vet to go to, DEFINITELY pick this one!
