How to Save Money at Avery Animal Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

We are so lucky to have the BEST Vets here in Charlotte! We followed Dr. Lander and Dr. Anderson to their new practice. Our Senior Dog has seen many Vets over the years and their care for our sweet boy is unmatched in their knowledge, compassion and patience. As our Senior dog ages we are seeing more health challenges and they go above and beyond to ensure he gets the best treatment plan and they present all options in great detail with no pressure. They have also shown grace and patience with our younger dog who has extreme phobia at the office. Dr. Lander and Dr. Anderson are not only amazing doctors but also wonderful and kind humans with big hearts. They comfort us when we feel stressed about our sweet boy. And all of the staff at Avery Animal Clinc has been so wonderful and warm as well. Thank you AAC!!!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Best Vets in Charlotte – Hands Down! Avery Animal Clinic is hands-down & paws-down the best vet experience we have ever had! Dr. Rachael Lander is truly a bulldog whisperer—she is amazing with brachycephalic breeds & brilliant with our Newfoundlands too! Dr. Maggie Anderson is equally amazing—super thorough, kind, and thoughtful. Both Doctors have calm, caring approaches that instantly puts our babies at ease, & as a result-us too. They are incredibly bright, knowledgeable and take the time to explain everything clearly. I know how hard it is to open & run your own business, and I am so proud of what these 2 Doctors have accomplished, would follow them anywhere! Together, they’ve created a clinic that’s not only top-notch medically, but warm and welcoming too. Their compassionate techs & front desk staff are just as wonderful. Friendly, professional, and clearly animal lovers through and through. Our babies actually love going in… & that speaks volumes! If you want vets who treat your pets like family, Avery AnimalClinic is the place.

Avery Animal Clinic is the best veterinary clinic. We followed Dr. Lander from her previous vet practice - she is compassionate, extremely knowledgeable and most of all kind. As a dog owner herself, Dr. Lander understands the stress of taking a pet to the vet and immediately puts you at ease. Their staff is top-notch as well. We booked an appointment online and after hours and we immediately got a confirmation and a kind text with in hour. I highly recommend Avery Animal Clinic

Dr. Anderson and Dr. Lander are some of the best vets I have ever met. Then, you add in their vet techs and front desk staff and it’s the total package. I have loved this clinic for regular visits and knew they were fantastic then, but recently, I had to bring two of my dogs in that was a bit of an emergency visit. The way they handled and took care of my dogs (and me) is something I will never forget. The whole staff showed me so much compassion, understanding, empathy, and care. They made sure I was okay and taken care of just as much as they did my dogs. These are qualities that are just as important as their knowledge of how to care for my pets because it can’t be taught…it’s just who they are as vets and a clinic as a whole.
