How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Veterinary Rehabilitation Hospital

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Experience

Ask whether the clinic has experience treating your specific type of pet, since care can vary between dogs, cats, and pocket pets.

Emergency Care Procedures

It’s helpful to understand how the clinic handles after-hours emergencies, including whether they provide emergency services or refer to nearby emergency hospitals.

Communication Preferences

I can’t say enough good things about the amazing rehabilitation and physical therapy team! Our Australian Shepherd, Charlie, has been facing neurological issues in her hind legs. While it’s been a challenging journey, the dedicated care and compassion of Dr. Yunker, the rehab technicians, and the entire team have been instrumental in helping us maintain her condition and understand our path forward. The staff’s personal dedication to each animal, combined with their professional expertise, has been a true lifeline. With their compassionate approach and flexible payment options, we feel incredibly fortunate to have found this team!

My Bassets have been coming to Veterinary Rehabilitation for the last 3 years; for 2 of them, rehabilitation is medically necessary for their well-being and pain prevention and management. For the third, she does the gym for long-term health and physical fitness. All the of the staff are very knowledgeable and astute observers of my Bassets' movements. They detect when the movement is different from previous sessions and identify the emergence of something painful before it escalates into something serious. Dr. Shulz provides excellent guidance on the most appropriate medical interventions when they are needed without "upselling." She carefully weighs the benefits and constraints of interventions with me. I also have had nutritional consults with Dr. Yunker, and implementing her recommendations is promoting excellent health, cancer prevention, and weight management. I highly recommend this practice!

We’ve been coming to VRH for many weeks now for laser therapy and other check ins for my pups arthritis. This is one of the few places in the area for this service and I’m so glad they have built a relationship with my pup all while keeping her moving the best way possible!
