How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Big Bend Veterinary Clinic

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Dr. Hooks and the exceptional team at Big Bend Vet Clinic have been invaluable contributors to our community of pet enthusiasts. Their unwavering compassion, kindness, and patience shine through in every interaction with both pet owners and their beloved animals. The genuine care for the health, safety, and happiness of every pet is evident in their dedicated service. As a loyal client for over a decade with three pets regularly visiting, I've experienced their life-saving interventions during challenging health issues, including ear infections, UTIs, and even cancer. The staff not only saved my pets but also provided invaluable support, keeping me informed and reassured throughout the journey. If you're a caring pet owner in the area, I wholeheartedly recommend this outstanding veterinary clinic.

Could not be more grateful for Dr. Hooks and the amazing staff at Big Bend Vet Clinic. They were my dog Charlie's vet for many years and always took excellent care of him. They did a great job talking me through what care he needed, but I never felt pressured in any way. And at the end of his life, they were incredibly kind and considerate, and he was euthenized in complete peace. They will be our vet for all our future pets as well!

Seriously the best vet EVER. We take our two dogs and cat here, and every single time are met with the utmost kindness and compassion. We are always able to get our pets seen in a timely manner, and I can always trust that my pets are receiving the best care. I have had nothing but great experiences here, and highly recommend this clinic to anybody looking for a vet

My dog was taken here after being injured by my neighbor’s dog. I had high hopes because they are close to my house. We called with questions about upping his anxiety meds (he was very anxious after the attack) and never got a call back. When we took our dog back to get the stitches removed, we told them how he had been very anxious and reactive since being attacked and they spent no time trying to make him comfortable. Then when I took him to my regular vet, we found out he could have had a much higher dosage of anxiety meds. I was very disappointed. I understand we weren’t regular customers but should still receive basic level of care (like someone actually returning our multiple calls). I am happy to say that after a visit to our regular vet we have a happy dog and feel that we got the support we needed.

They did everything in there gracious heart to keep my puppers going. Only 24 hour Vet near STL right now. I said a prayer for all the puppers and cats and animals going in and out. The staff was very friendly . The Dr was on point about everything and gave me all the right steps to do to follow up with my regular vet. Daisy May is doing better each day tho the bed rest and taming her food has been ruff for her. She didn't like me getting the she shed back out but understands.
