How to Save Money at Petco Vaccination Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Awesome to have a Petco Vetco so close to me that has such caring tech techs (like Ashley!) and and Drs (like Dr Nora!) I have brought both my cats to this Petco, and have truly enjoyed my appointments with Ashley as my vet tech and Dr Nora. My cats are fiv+ so they see the vet a lot, and the staff at vetco have made the vet a lot more fun than scary for my cats. The vet techs are all so kind and excited to meet my cats, and it takes a lot of the stress out of going to the vet for me and my cats. It’s nice to have my pets recognized over the phone or to be asked for pictures when we come in. Feels a lot more personal and genuine! I hope these techs don’t get transferred somewhere else, and I hope more qualified and quality people apply for positions within vetco, because when it is working well, it works very very well!

This store is one of my favorite places to bring my kids. We learn a lot about fish from our new friend, Joe. He has repeatedly gone above and beyond to make sure we know what we’re doing. It’s so very appreciated. All of the employees are really quite helpful. I don’t ever go when I’m in a hurry, though. It can be very busy at certain times of the day.

I came exactly 5 minutes late due to a transportation issue and was informed that my appointment was cancelled. Notably this appointment was for some reason allotted a 15 minute time slot when I literally just needed to get a 5 in 1 vaccine for my puppy. I paid for an Uber here & now have to pay for one back to receive literally no care for my dog. This policy that they’ll apparently just cancel your appointment if you’re late was never specified on any point in the booking or checking in process. Now I’ll have to pay another $40 to get here and back a second time for something that should have taken 2 minutes, especially because my dog has been to this clinic before. & again this was just a vaccine appointment, nothing that would even require the given time slot. Lady at the counter was completely un-empathetic and rude regarding the situation too. Seriously needs a change of management I’m figuring. Ridiculous situation.

20 people in line, one checker, dog pee on floor with no one to clean it up. Poor checker getting frantic. 2 women casually came back from a break and rudely said, " next". No apologies for the 30 min. Wait to buy dog food on a Friday afternoon. Will never return. Have been coming here for 10 years. Slowly watched declune. Sad.

They are so busy at this location on weekends maybe could use some extra help considering and not ask for folks to arrive early to appointments but was happy to get the check up for pets taken care of.
