How to Save Money at Pet Crossing Animal Hospital & Dental Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I recently boarded my aging dog while on vacation. She was near end of life and needed additional care. The facility brought Ruby to Pet Crossing concerned she needed to be put down. Pet Crossing's doctor called me immediately, provided me her cell number, and worked with me for options to care for Ruby. Ultimately, Pet crossing took care of her all day and sent me numerous photos and videos showing she was doing very well until a friend could pick her up. They helped manage her pain and developed a plan for my friend so I could be with her at the end when I returned. Pet Crossing was extremely compassionate, went above and beyond with their communication, and I felt were reasonable with their fees. I cannot express my gratitude enough to the staff at Pet Crossing and would not hesitate bringing my other dog there in the future and would recommend Pet Crossing to others based upon this experience.

The vets, techs and staff here are incredible. Our poor dog had been through so much and was on death’s door and they literally saved her life, after receiving no help from our primary vet and an emergency vet hospital. We are moving the care of both of our dogs here and will be clients moving forward. Some of the most compassionate, knowledgeable people work here. Thank you! One of the vets came in on her day off to help our sweet pup.

Brought my dog in here recently due to scheduling issues(too long of wait) with my regular vet clinic. The care was on par with other vet clinics I have taken my pets to in the past. No complaints with the care received however, I was put off by the extremely high prices and high pressure sales tactics. I see other reviewers have also experienced what I would call almost 'shaming' tactics into accepting unnecessary products and services. I know they are unnecessary because my regular vet would have suggested it. Over the last 20+ years I have taken my dogs to a few other vet clinics in the Bloomington/Richfield area and have never dealt with this before. Lesson learned. Will not be returning as I don't feel like paying for the fancy artwork on the walls(my dogs don't care) and there are many other lower cost and just as competent vet clinics in the area.

I really wanted to love this Vet. They are very friendly and attentive in clinic, but they are very difficult to communicate with once you walk out the door. Trying to get them to call in a prescription for your pet is next to impossible. Every time I have tried to get my dog’s meds, it’s taken 3+ days. For my dog who needs pain meds daily, she is left to be in pain over the weekend because it’s now Friday, and even after calling first thing this morning to get them to call it in to my pharmacy (again), they didn’t do it. I’ve called to get her script refilled for 3 days, they keep saying they will, and they don’t. I’m so disappointed. I wish their priority was to actually help the animals and get them what they need asap, but it seems to be more about making money.

The entire staff at Pet Crossing were amazing from beginning to end of Kaya’s appointment! They helped ease our minds through a frightening situation for us! We really appreciate the follow up call checking on Kaya! We plan on bringing our other dog here when needed!
