How to Save Money at Monroe Veterinary Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
This clinic is very poorly managed. I started going there with my puppy and at first things were fine. Then when it was time for her to be spayed I made the appt with them and then got a call the day before saying they are not able to do the procedure and sent me to a clinic 30 minutes away. When it was time for my pups stitches to cone out we had to wait past the two weeks because their vets are never in the office. When they finally took her stitches out they left one and it got infected. When I took my pup in to have the stitch taken out none of the vet techs in the office will come near my dog. They act like they are afraid of her. She has never given them a reason to be afraid of her. And they are vet techs, they shouldn't be afraid of any dog. Then they would not let me leave the room and check out until they cleared the waiting room. That visit also cost me $143 that I paid due to their mistake. They also charged me for a probiotic that i don't feel was necessary and it looked like samples that they are given. This office is very poorly ran and they need to find staff that are not afraid of dogs.

Terrible service. They never answer the phone. Took my cat in for a known problem, so far they have done absolutely nothing to help. Took 3 tries to get a urine sample, the 1st time they sent my cat home saying for us to collect his urine. But the problem, WHICH IS why we took him in, was he is peeing everywhere BUT the litter box. So they finally get it. I don’t hear back from them about the results for 3 days. I have made multiple phone calls and left messages. I finally decided to go there today to see if someone can give me results and some medicine. They are closed !! Unbelievable.

It is very bold of a business to charge upfront $60 to make an appointment in case you no show, but then answer the phone only 1/5 times, and neither return calls or voicemails. Also, very risky business practice to make up fake invoices to then tack on an extra $100 at checkout, in "tests" you were supposed to have in the original invoice, which was proof read by several people working there. I was quoted just over $300 for tests and shots, which didn't include the $60 deduction I paid for the appointment (therefore the final bill should've been $240). Yet the final bill was $340 (with the $60 already taken out). Two added tests I thought I was already getting at +/-$50 a pop.

Following my review of them, they sent a horrible text asking when my dog was coming in for his next check up is, they know perfectly well that he had a terminal condition 2 years ago almost! Shame on them.... They have the rudest staff ever and I can't wait until they lose enough business to where they leave this town. Vets should be trusted, kind, and empathetic. They strike out on all three of these traits. I pray they change their ways for the sake of future pets and pet parents.

The entire Staff here is absolutely phenomenal! We couldn't be more satisfied with the full list of service provided. Unfortunately, we had to have our beloved Bella euthanized on this visit. With that being said, I must concur that MVC is compassionate to the Nth Degree and this is where we will always bring our fuzzy-butts, so long as the practice will continue to HAVE us... On behalf of ALL your clients, thank you so much for everything you Folks do. You all are a credit to your humanity and community, not to mention industry, career choice and self, individually and collectively.
