Roxy is alive today because of this amazing place! She received treatment for hepatic lipidosis from March 31- May 12 and during this time we had multiple appointments, saw so many different front desk staff, doctors, and students. Our favorites were Dr. Locke and her student Samantha! I brought my 3 year old along for majority of Roxy’s appointments and everyone was so compassionate and understanding, I truly never encountered anyone that was anything but pleasant! They were very honest up front about costs and I thankfully had savings to be able to accommodate. The doctors checked in frequently to see if treatment was working or if we needed to tackle it a different way, Roxy ended up getting a feeding tube placed and they were so kind with explaining how to do everything and called the first couple of days to make sure I myself was doing okay with these new challenges. I would also like to mention every single quote i was given was much higher than what i actually ended up paying which was great! My little boy and I are so grateful for the staff here that got our Roxy girl feeling better!

We took our dog to the oncologist here for cancerous tumors. The doctors and students were so helpful, answering our questions and not making us feel rushed. I feel like we had all of the information we needed before surgery. Surgery went scheduled, and our little one was treated well. We got twice a day updates during her stay, with extra updates after surgery on that day. I am very happy with the care our little one received here. And I am happy to report, she is cancer free at the moment! ❤️

We had an emergency with our german shepherd and found this as one of the closest hospitals, drove there and they were super fast and attentive. They quickly came out to take us into the room and the doctor explained everything, unfortunately due to his conditions and situation we had to get our baby euthanized, it was a difficult time for us but the staff was very compassionate and did everything they could to assist us. I was told they would call us for the prints and I was not looking forward to going back and remembering that night so to my surprise they mailed me everything and even informed his vet. We highly recommend here and will go back if we ever need to.

READ LOW STAR REVIEWS BEFORE YOU GO!!! I brought our dog Buttons here for emergency treatment just to be told by Dr Annamarie Weber to euthanize her, she didn’t provide treatment or any tests to determine what treatment was needed, causing the death of our dog. I had to INSIST on getting fluids in her as she hadn’t drank water in over 24 hours, she refused to give our dog an antibiotic for an infection and she ended up dying from sepsis the next day. While we were here she did no testing, didnt prescribe an appetite stimulant although buttons also wasnt eating, didnt provide any life saving measures at all and when I insisted on an X-ray and the fluids she acted like I was a horrible person for doing anything at all and that my dog was going to die in a few weeks later to months anyways. When I asked for a referral to Purdue University who evidently specializes in my dogs exact case, it was very difficult to get one from her and at first she told me I didn’t need one, although Purdue told me yes we would need a referral. She didn’t treat my dog at all, decided she was going to die, and instead of being able to take her to Purdue university where they treat this exact thing , she insured my dog did die by denying treatment. She’s sick. If you’re pet has a severe condition do NOT go here!!! Read the other one star reviews!!!! If you have to and end up getting this woman, ask for someone else because her personal opinion is to not save pets that are super sick, my dog did have time left and we were told this by two other vets, and because of her it was cut so so so so so short and my family could not even be more broken then we are now. DONT GO HERE !!!!

Read this review before you make an appointment and travel here. If I could give Kansas State Veterinary Health Center 0 stars, I would. I was referred here because they're supposed to have access to advanced technology and diagnostics that my local veterinarian doesn't. Before I even made the trip, I specifically asked what would be done during the appointment. I was told they would perform a full airway diagnostic workup and that the only reason I might need to return would be for a scope. That assurance is what justified making the 6 hour round-trip. Unfortunately, that is not even remotely close to what happened. My appointment was at 10:00 a.m. A fourth-year student performed the initial exam, and then I waited over an hour before the doctor became available. Around 11:45 a.m., my dog was taken to the back for X-rays, and I was told it would take 1-2 hours. I returned shortly before 2:00 p.m., expecting to hear the results or at least receive an update. Instead, hours passed with virtually no communication. By 3:30 p.m., I still hadn't heard anything and had to ask for an update. The only positive from the entire experience was the receptionist, who kindly tracked someone down after my second request and actually tried to help. About an hour later, I was informed the doctor hadn't even looked at the X-rays yet. By 5:00 p.m., after spending the entire day waiting, I requested my dog back because I was ready to leave. The doctor finally came out around 5:15 p.m. to discuss the results. The most frustrating part is that the X-ray was the only diagnostic performed during my entire 7½-hour visit. My local veterinarian had already completed X-rays before referring me to Kansas State. I made the trip expecting the advanced airway diagnostics I had been promised. Instead, they repeated an X-ray that already existed, took my dog on a short jog to see if it would trigger a cough, and prescribed medication. We didn't even come close to the comprehensive airway evaluation I was told would be performed. To make matters even worse, my dog had been in the back for over 5½ hours and wasn't given any water. When I finally got him back, he immediately drank two full bowls of water by the fountain. Seeing that after such a long day was incredibly upsetting. Afterward, I contacted hospital administration about my experience. I was promised callbacks that never came and had to continue following up myself. When I finally spoke with an administrator, the conversation felt more focused on justifying the delays than acknowledging the poor communication and lack of care. I understand that teaching hospitals can take longer than a typical veterinary clinic, and I was prepared for that. My expectations were realistic because they were based on exactly what I was told when I scheduled the appointment—that a full airway diagnostic workup would be performed and that the only reason I would likely need to return would be for a scope. Instead, I spent 7½ hours at the hospital, received almost no communication, had only a duplicate X-ray performed, and my dog went without water for more than 5½ hours. I cannot recommend making the trip here based on my experience. If you're traveling because you've been told Kansas State can provide specialized diagnostics beyond what your local veterinarian offers, I hope your experience is better than mine. Unfortunately, they failed to deliver the care and evaluation they promised, and what should have been a comprehensive referral appointment turned into an entire day of waiting for little more than an X-ray we already had.
