How to Save Money at Knoll Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I followed Dr. Clark here after she saved my foster kitten, Gabriel's life almost 9 years ago (now a foster fail, he's asleep on my lap as I type). He was suffering from severe constipation and the vet that the rescue used just kept pumping him with medication, hospital stays, and countless office visits. It got to the point where the rescue decided to euthanize Gabriel since it was becoming too costly. I cried on a friend's shoulder who referred me to Dr. Clark. She ordered prescription food for him and a tiny sprinkle of miralax with each feeding (short term), something the previous vet did not try. It worked. He was totally better after a month and I ended up adopting him (and his biological brother, Michael). He is 9 years old, alive and well because of Dr. Clark and her willingness to try to figure out how to help my tiny foster kitten. He may be named after an angel, but she's the real angel! I have now switched to Knoll with my own cats.

Koko, Chocolate Labrador

This is my dog’s clinic ever since we got him. So far, so good and it has been over two years. It is a fear-free clinic and they are super patient with my dog, Koko who apparently has some anxiety. We were advised to take anti-anxiety meds prior to visits to ensure Koko stays calm during the examinations and ensured us that it is safe to take. Everyone is very nice, polite, and friendly. The inside of the clinic is clean. Good parking spots. It is a pretty busy clinic so sometimes it takes 2 weeks before you can get in for a consultation/appointment. They offer emergency visits though if need be. All doctors are very knowledgeable and kind. I love Dr. Maas, she is our personal favorite! She is thorough with her examination and answered all my questions and concerns with patience. She offered good suggestions to find the root of the problem. I can see and feel that she really cares. Clinic visits, exams, and tests are super expensive so I suggest getting a pet insurance. Also, this clinic offers membership plans and preventive care plans. I really do appreciate the hard work, love, good treatment, and kindness this clinic gives to our beloved animals.

My pets are family and I expect a vet group to recognize this. The team at Knoll Animal Hospital do and go above and beyond to care for the animals that they have been trusted to care for. You can trust them with your fur babies! The Fear Free environment is wonderful and should be the standard for all animal care practices. The staff is friendly, well trained, knowledgeable, caring and fun! Do not hesitate to trust this animal hospital!

I am not from the area and was in need of a Vet for my Senior dog with heart failures end of life care. I found a Knoll Animal Hospital flyer on a table at a restaurant and after reading reviews and calling other places with not much help, I gave them a call. They got us in the next day for an appointment. Never did I feel like we were at the Vets for such a hard visit. Everyone from the minute we walked in to the minute we left treated us with such kindness. They have great lines of communication and are so patient and kind. We did decide after a visit, a week of meds and a few different text conversations that it was time to let my beloved dog cross the Rainbow Bridge. It was a week and a few days after our first visit when I messaged earlier in the morning and they scheduled us for that evening. They work with such care and grace for you and your furbaby. Never did i feel pressured to do anything one way or another and they let us have as much needed time with my baby as I said goodbye. I highly recommend them and I am forever grateful for the care my dog received and the kindness in such a hard situation. Thank You for Your loving care of my Popi in his final moments.

I called this morning for my cat in hopes they have a spot and thankfully it was the last one and was able to get in today. Every employee from the time I walked in and interacted with were absolutely pleasant, friendly and professional. I can go on and on how great they were but to be honest you would have to see for yourself. I have recommended this place to my friends and coworkers. Thank you to the Vet and ALL the staff!!
