How to Save Money at Pearl's Veterinary Surgery

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Our beloved Leia was diagnosed with pyometra (an infection in her uterus) at an emergency clinic. The costs for treatment there was super expensive so the vet tech recommended Pearl’s Veterinary Surgery to us! The Pearl’s crew was a blessing from above, they immediately were caring and super helpful. The cost of care at Pearl’s was also VERY inexpensive compared to what the emergency clinic was trying to charge us. They cared for our Leia like she was their own, and were super hospitable and friendly to us. The vet and staff were all knowledgeable , sweet and supportive in every way. We cannot express our gratitude and respect for Pearl’s & well recommend this place to everyone we can! Leia’s surgery was swift and successful, she is now recovering with the medication they prescribed and carefully explained how to administer. Thank you Kasey and Jenny!!

My foster kitten had an enucleation at this new clinic near the airport. Everything went smoothly, from the prompt scheduling, no waiting in the lobby, super nice and efficient registration and thorough post-surgery instructions not to mention great results. I received a written record of the surgery in the greatest detail, with an account of each surgical procedure and every drug given. Everyone at the clinic made us feel welcome and my foster seemed to respond to the positive energy as well. Huey’s recovery went smoothly, and the surgeon removed his stitches in minutes. I will always return to Pearl’s for my pets and fosters’ surgeries. If your pet is in need of surgery or dental procedures, you’ll want to call Pearl’s for an estimate because their mission is to provide the pet community with affordable surgery.

I can’t say enough good things about Pearl's Veterinary Surgery! From start to finish, the staff was professional, caring, and incredibly knowledgeable. They took the time to explain all my options for my dog, Ku‘uipo, in a way that made me feel confident in the care she was receiving. Their quotes were very reasonable, and I appreciated how upfront they were about costs—no surprises, just honesty. Most importantly, Ku‘uipo was treated with so much love and compassion throughout the entire process. She came home happy and comfortable, which is a testament to their exceptional care. If you’re looking for affordable, high-quality veterinary surgical care, Pearl's is where we'll be going from now on with our fur babies.

Highly recommend Dr. Kasey and his team for your furbaby’s surgical needs. We were referred to Pearl’s Veterinary Surgery by a vet tech who spoke praises of Dr. Kasey and his office. We scheduled a consultation to confirm our toy poodle’s surgical needs and they were able to accommodate us to do the procedure the same day. Dr. Kasey explained everything thoroughly and addressed all of our questions. So happy that Dr. Kasey decided to open his office to bridge the gap and ease the access to our pet’s surgical needs.
