How to Save Money at Snellville Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I cannot express how much my husband and I love Snellville Animal Hospital. We just had to put down our sweet cat, Theodore, and the team here walked us through the entire procedure with genuine care and empathy. We adopted Theo out of a really rough situation, and he was not sure sure about vets lol. We took him to multiple other veterinary clinics, and none of them seemed to truly care about Theodore's comfort. He was quickly labeled as "aggressive" and was handled with frustration at other places. He was not an aggressive cat at all when he was at home- I never saw him hiss or scratch at a human. He interacted with any friends/family we had over as if he had known them forever. He was the friendliest cat. He was a huge piece of our family's puzzle, and we wanted to take him to a vet who treated him with kindness despite his initial fear/anxiety. I knew the moment that Dr. Craine interacted with Theodore that Snellville Animal Hospital was the place to be... instead of man-handling him and forcing him into an uncomfortable space, Dr. Craine sat down on the floor to let Theodore sniff him and get used to his presence. He talked me through Theodore's condition and our options all while interacting so, so kindly with my cat. Theodore relaxed... which was a huge deal. When we decided to euthanize Theo, the receptionists seemed saddened alongside us and were just the most compassionate toward us. The day of his euthanasia, Theodore was curious, friendly and relaxed (for the most part). It went as well as possible, thanks to ALL of the genuinely good, caring people at Snellville Animal Hospital. I know that this is the longest post ever- but I mean it... I cannot write enough words to express my gratitude for this practice. They're the best around!

I heard of this vet from a co-worker since I was looking for a new vet, so I decided to book n appointment for my dog Gracie Lou. The place was small but VERY nicely set up, and the staff was amazing. Gracie LOVED interacting with anyone that would give her attention, and just wanted to give all the kisses. I would absolutely suggest this vet for anyone that asks!

Going here is so great and I never experienced a bad time, the staff is amazingly and the doctors are awesome every time you enter the hospital with your pet. I just love Snellville Animal Hospital and I wouldn’t go anywhere else, they will even call to check on your pet when they have been sick… Thank you so much for your love and care for our pets. Dr. Cerjan, Dr. Craig and their staff here are wonderful. We fully trust Dr's Cerjan & Craig with the care of our furbaby. Appointments are easy, and they're very accommodating when he isn't feeling well and needs to be seen sooner rather than later. They always take their time, listen when we have concerns, answer all of our questions and explain everything in detail. I'm very happy we chose Snellville Animal Hospital to provide regular care and medical services for our sweet boy.

Known Dr Crane for a while. He knows his stuff and loves the pets. We take our 3 dogs and 2 cats here exclusively. We used the kennel service for a week long trip, and the dog did not want to leave, he just loved them! Lol
