How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Ohana Pet Hospital

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Getting to Know Your Veterinarian

Choosing a veterinarian is an important decision for pet parents. A strong vet relationship is built on trust, communication, and understanding your pet’s individual needs.

Experience

Ask whether the clinic has experience treating your specific type of pet, since care can vary between dogs, cats, and pocket pets.

Emergency Care Procedures

It’s helpful to understand how the clinic handles after-hours emergencies, including whether they provide emergency services or refer to nearby emergency hospitals.

Communication Preferences

Ask how the clinic communicates with pet parents, including updates, test results, and follow up questions.

Breed Specific Health Considerations

Some breeds may be more prone to certain health conditions. Early awareness can help with prevention and early treatment.

Facility Tour

If available, touring the clinic can help you and your pet feel more comfortable before the first visit.

Good when you can get in... I established a vet upon relocating hoping for the same priority service as I've had in the central valley at Lone Oak vet & Redwood veterinary services for the last 20yrs. But this hospital doesn't seem to care enough to work in their regular patients like the caring vets I've had in the past. It's hit & miss with service, a different vet almost every time makes it hard to know what to expect, or who to expect. When having forever pets you expect forever vets but I guess it's just different in a big city. I'm always redirected to other places, I don't understand why when my babies are their patients. Wish they cared more for my babies like vets I've had in the central valley area. Satisfactory service but not stellar.

Extremely sad and overwhelming day, but they helped us diagnose our dog’s bladder cancer and we’re transparent about all aspects of the procedure and pricing. Extremely grateful for their care and compassion.

Our golden retrievers appointment was to establish with a Dr, (we are new to the area.) Dr Cassidy and her tech were thorough, informative, and no waiting. Front office also professional. "Finn" also gave them " 4 paws up" Mahalo...

Ohana is the only Veterinarian office for my little doggie, Shula. Although she’s not a big fan of going to the Vet’s, they always treat her with love and kindness.
