How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Conejo Valley Veterinary Hospital
Preventive care
Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.
Compare prescription pricing
Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.
Consider pet insurance
Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

I am writing this review years late, but the compassion of this clinic has stayed with me forever. After surviving a five-car accident, my car was totaled, but my only worry was for my two German Shepherds—my battle buddies who were riding with me. We arrived around 10:00 PM, and the night staff treated us with the utmost kindness. After giving my boys a thorough exam and ensuring they were uninjured, they did something that completely blew me away: they waived the fee. They told me they wanted to cover it because people rarely think to get their pets checked after a crash. Their empathy and professionalism in a moment of extreme stress meant the world to me. They recognized how much my boys meant to me and acted out of pure care. Thank you to this incredible team.

We’ve been taking our pets to Conejo Valley Vet Hospital for several years. Cats, guinea pigs, and now labradoodles. The waiting room and exam rooms are always clean, the staff is very caring with pet moms & dads, and the clinicians are excellent!

After 18 years of trusting Conejo Valley Veterinary Hospital with our dogs, they completely broke our trust. While on a family vacation and boarding our 6-year-old golden retriever and licensed service dog, Finn, we received a call saying he had been attacked by another dog under their care. His injuries were severe — requiring anesthesia, surgery, stitches, and urgent treatment. Instead of apologizing or taking responsibility, Conejo Valley Veterinary Hospital billed us over $1,100 for his care and even sent the bill to collections when we disputed it. We’ve had to take this matter to small claims court just to stand up for what’s right. This has been traumatic for our dog and heartbreaking for our family. If you value accountability and compassion, please think carefully before trusting Conejo Valley Veterinary Hospital with your pet — we did, and our dog paid the price.

Traveling through former clients with a very old dog who had an upset tummy. They got us in in an hour and took very good care of our dog & did a thorough work up. She’s fine three days later. They’re great.

Not an Urgent Care. They “checked us in” said it would be 30min-1hr. Then after an hour of just sitting in the waiting room, we asked when we’d be seen and they said ANOTHER HOUR or more. I asked how many dogs were ahead, they said they just had to check in another dog ahead of us. They never checked my dogs vitals, and just had us sitting in the waiting room expecting us to wait for 2+ hours as they checked people in and took other dogs back ahead of us. Regular office visits are not usually as frustrating. I love Dr. Ov, and she is a great vet for my dog. But urgent cares cannot ignore you and your pet and have you wait in the waiting room for hours without taking vitals. I’m very concerned about the urgent care process and will not go back for immediate care.
