How to Save Money at Emergency Pet Hospital of Redlands

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Please do yourself a favor and do not show up here if you’re expecting a 24 hour emergency facility. Google is providing WRONG information. The emergency hospital rebranded and has moved to a new location off of Alabama and industrial park. The hospital currently at this location is just a general practice hospital with urgent care, with VERY limited walk In space based off capacity DUE TO LIMITED HOURS. New hospital is open Monday -Saturday 8am-8pm, and prefer online bookings. Information and number attached to this IS NOT THE CORRECT INFORMATION. You will call the NEW location and then end up in the wrong place. So please do not do the mistake many of us have made when you need an emergency. Staff at new location is very kind but again THIS IS NOT AN EMERGENCY HOSPITAL!! I watch attached photo of new address for the new 24 hour emergency hospital. Google do better and update your information.

Earlier this month I took my 1 year old cat to a animal hospital for a possible uti infection. While running some tests on her she was given the wrong dose of an anti-inflammatory medication, although not life threatening, she was sent to the emergency hospital of Redlands, for observation and care. We were treated kindly, and with care. I was updated about every 8 hours,by text on her condition. I even went everyday for 2 day's to spend time with her. She was brought to a room where I stayed with food and toy's for her. It helped both myself and Bella get through this ordeal. They all were very kind from the front desk, nurses, techs and the Dr even came in the room while I was visiting. Timothy the discharge nurse was very kind and reassuring of her outcome. I'm very thankful for they're there for our beloved pets.

I Highly recommend this animal hospital! I am beyond thankful for the service they provided they saved my dogs life by offering different options when it came to the financial part because pet treatment is not cheap . Staff are amazing and on top of their job , they explain everything very well . I want to say the doctors are great Dr. sheena Forsberg did an amazing job explaining everything and was very open and honest. The wait is long but worth the honest good service . ALSO they always answer and provide the answers you need ! My fur baby is currently recovering and whenever I have a question they do not hesitate on helping 👏🏼 ! Thank you

On Tuesday, May 16, 2023, I had the emergency of visiting the veterinarian with my dog Coco because he was attacked by another dog and had a wound on his neck. The incident occurred around 6:00 p.m. At first, I thought nothing had happened to him, but then I noticed the wound and realized I had to take him to the emergency room. That's when my bad experience began. I arrived a little before 9:00 p.m., and the office staff was very attentive. They took my personal information and sent me a link to my phone to answer further questions. They looked at my dog without conducting a thorough evaluation, returned him to me, and asked me to wait for a moment while they called me. I waited for about two hours, and it was already past 11:30 p.m. when they finally called me. They took me and my dog into a small room, and about 45 more minutes passed until someone arrived. They asked me what had happened, and I told them the story again. The person didn't even touch my dog; they just looked at him and told me to wait for someone else who would provide an estimate of the expenses and the necessary medical procedure for my dog. I waited for more time in the small room with my dog, and then a young man arrived to explain what my dog needed. He explained it very well and told me it would cost a little over $2700.00. Immediately, I told him that I didn't have that money. He responded that there were other payment options and asked me when I could pay. I told him I couldn't afford that amount, and he asked me to wait a little longer and said he would return. It was almost 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday when I decided to leave with my dog. There was no reason for me to keep waiting. I left the clinic feeling frustrated, with my injured dog and exhausted from waiting for over 4 hours and 30 minutes. Oh but they charged me $140.00. I went and searched for a pharmacy to buy medications to clean and disinfect my dog's wound. This was my bad experience—waiting for a long time, no one even touching my dog, and receiving an extremely high estimate. I say it was expensive because on Wednesday morning, the first thing I did was go to a veterinarian in the Ontario area, recommended by a friend. They treated me very well, professionally, and with great communication. I only paid $93.26 dollars, including the medication, compared to the $2700 they wanted to charge me here. I understand that this is a business, but I also understand when it becomes an abuse. My dog Coco, a Shih Tzu, and I are now happy thanks to finding a better option. I hope my experience can help someone else without risking their pet, of course. Thank you very much for reading our story, and we hope it serves someone well.

If I could give more stars I definitely would! Took my cat Sushi here because she was vomiting and not eating for a few days. I thought she would just need medication but after speaking to the vet about what she recommended we decided to take some x-rays. Turns out Sushi had ingested something and it was blocking her intestines, she needed emergency surgery. Dr.Turner explained everything in detail and answered all our concerns. If we would have gone anywhere else they would probably have sent her home with medications to die. We are so happy the vet took her time to really help us. We knew because we didn’t have pet insurance it was going to be pricey, but our fur baby’s life is definitely worth it! She was hospitalized for a day and she made a speedy recovery. Because of the amazing staff, nurses, and doctor, Sushi is back to her crazy self and she’s here with us today. I would recommend this place to anyone!
