How to Save Money at Yosemite Veterinary Hospital Modesto

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

These people help me in crunch. They made me feel like they truly cared about my situation. They got my in urgently. I honestly thought I was going to have to put my cat down, but we worked out a solution. Before i came in I felt like all hope was lost. They took good care of me and my cat. Not expensive at all very reasonable pricing. I'm happy to have met them and glad they helped my cat. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ five stars for support service and pricing. Would recommend. Thanks again. ☺️

I gave the reigning because I did take me in the same day their emergency / squeeze in office visit price was $98 cheaper than most. I was little upset they didn't even take my dog temp just felt her back to make sure there was nothing wrong with it. She is a five-year-old bulldog that I brought in because she was shaking and a little bit of wind thing like she was in pain. My first guess was a possible UTI. They were able to collect her urine off of the floor in the office but to run the test was $100 they ended up treating her for UTI which they also do do most females at the doctor's for humans before the test comes back. The antibiotics and pain pills costed me a total of 105 dollars they wanted to give me 30 pain pills I told him just give me 15 and would that cut the price it did otherwise it would have been 150 total for meds. I did not want to skip on the antibiotics. The next day after closely examining my dog I noticed what appeared to be an infection in her corkscrew tail. I cleaned it out and put baby desenex there she's been doing really good but with the antibiotics I can't tell which is which but the fact they did not check her butt to see if she had some sort of like a no blockage or take her temperature alarms me. The staff was very nice the doctor was helpful very nice but I just felt they should have at least checked her temperature

Other places I tried didn't have openings for months but when I called Yosemite they had an appt for the very next day. When I took my cat in, who HATES traveling and was deeply upset already, they immediately put me into a room so he didn't have to see all the other animals. I was able to take him out of the carrier and let him explore the space comfortably. On top of that they had reasonable prices and didn't make me take the $60-75 test that everyone else requires before vaccinating my cat. I highly recommend

NEVER coming here again. We’ve been coming here for about 2 years. Service was never great but prices were low. NOW… forget about it! We neutered our dog here and that was cheaper than an antibiotic shot he needed months later! a shot that online says max $80 for our tiny dog, they charged us over $250!!!!!!!! While there, we also witnessed them quoting DOUBLE fees for weekend appointments and everyone was surprised by the price inflation as they came in. They just kept saying a company bought them and raised the prices. THIS PLACE IS A RIPOFF! The service is not great at all either so there is no compensation for the inflation. Find another clinic.
