How to Save Money at Stitches Veterinary Surgery

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I recently took my 6-month-old puppy, Chihiro, to Stitches Veterinary Surgery Center for orthopedic surgery on her left femur, and I couldn't be more pleased with the experience. From the moment we walked in, the office staff was friendly and kind, putting both me and my pet at ease. Dr. Campbell did an incredible job of assessing her prior to surgery and thoroughly explained the surgical process in detail, answering all my questions and ensuring I felt comfortable and informed. They also monitored her progress closely post-surgery, providing excellent follow-up care instructions. Chihiro was always excited to come in for her check-ups which is a testament to the love and care the Stitches team provided. The center is clean, well-organized, and modern. It has been approximately two months since her surgery, and Chihiro is like a new dog!. I highly recommend Stitches Veterinary Surgery Center!

I had an excellent experience at this beautiful new veterinary surgical facility today. Dr Campbell and his staff are compassionate and professional. Dr Campbell communicates treatment options in a way that makes difficult procedures easy to understand. An absolutely spotless facility, with a comfortable lobby and exam room, easy parking. I would definitely return!

We are beyond grateful to Dr. Courtney Campbell and the entire team at Stitches Veterinary Surgery for the exceptional care they provided to our English bulldog, Melon. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed by Starr and the rest of the office staff, who made the entire experience feel supportive and reassuring. Jaleen and Liz were always so friendly at the front office and we really appreciated the hospitality during a stressful time. Dr. Campbell’s expertise and kindness stood out from the start. The surgery he performed has truly improved Melon’s quality of life, and we are so thankful for his thoughtful communication and follow-up throughout the healing process. It’s rare to find a team so skilled, compassionate, and thorough. We couldn’t recommend Stitches Veterinary Surgery more highly!

I had a great experience at Stitches. My english bulldog had the BOAS surgery done with Dr. Campbell and he did an amazing job. The surgery went smoothly and I can already tell a difference in Stella’s breathing. The staff was also very caring and kind throughout the entire process. They took the time to explain everything and answered all my questions. The team also took the time to call and follow up post surgery to see how Stella was doing. I truly recommend Dr. Campbell and his staff for anyone who needs surgery for their pet. I was nervous about the surgery but so glad I went through with it and chose this vet.

Dr. Campbell and his staff are simply amazing! This team of people care so much for you and your pet like they are family. Dr. Campbell is not only very knowledgeable and experienced with treating your pet, he really spent time with me and my dog to get to know us. I have to say I credit Dr. Campbell with saving my dog from losing his leg, and providing alternatives that I was very happy with. My dog 'Wilson' will be back out running around like he used to very soon! I am very glad to have met Dr. Campbell and his team. I've not met a better veterinary doctor and office team. I'm very grateful for what he did for me and Wilson.
