How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Shield Stone Pet Hospital

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

They treat my fur babies with care and compassion! They’re very patient with my babies and even myself, they don’t mind answering my thousands of questions. I can call them anytime with a general question about my cats health or diets and they’re very accommodating. My newest baby is now 8 weeks and they’ve been doing routine checkups with her since 5 weeks so they do have experience with little ones!

So, we used to bring our pets to Shield Stone. It was a great place to go before the vet retired. Afterwards, it just didn't seem as good. The new vet showed no true compassion, imo. When we brought our cat there, the vet didn't seem at all interested in making an effort to save her. We made the decision to send her back to kittie heaven. This place screwed that up. They were supposed to give her something to relax her, but it made her stressed. The whole experience turned into a nightmare. I had to hold on to her while they gave her the shot. Afterwards, I expressed how let down I was with how they handled my cat. The new vet just had a look like he was waiting for me to finish so he could just go about his day. They didn't like what I had to say, so I got a letter suggesting I go elsewhere. Poor vet got his feelings hurt that I didn't thank him for the botched procedure. No worries. Plenty of great alternatives out there. Shield Stone *used* to be a great place to go to. Not anymore.

What an experience. Our female husky was showing symptoms of pregnancy. We took her in on May 30 2023 for an ultrasound. They told us it was a false pregnancy. She had 6 puppies 3 weeks later on june 12. 6! How do you miss 6 heartbeats? Babies are healthy and beautiful! Thank God we were home to guide her and experience her first litter with her. But this vet office is definitely not worth coming to if they can't even detect heartbeats. Such a disappointment.

Came to Shield Stone Pet Hospital today for the first time, due to an injury to my American Bully’s left eye. I took him to a regular vet twice & spent $350 & his eye never healed. After the visit to Dr Hwang, my dog is opening his eye for the 1st time in almost a month. Dr Hwang was great in the way she handled my dog and was super attentive & gentle with him. I highly recommend Dr Hwang!!
