How to Save Money at Newark Pet Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Definitely AVOID this clinic! Short Version: - Kitten spay surgery done at Newark was incomplete, left with ovarian remnant. - With lots of suffering of my kitten, many of my working hours taken, and over $5000 spent, a second surgery was done successfully by a specialist at another clinic (Newark agreed with the second surgery plan). - With all clinical proofs received, and multiple phone chats, Newark never responds to my questioning of responsibility of the incomplete spay surgery and what my kitten and I have suffered from that. Full Story: Our kitten was spayed at the Newark Pet Clinic last December when she was around 6 months (invoice attached). Starting from this Feb, however, she showed symptoms of being in heat and things repeated approximately every ten days. I then brought her back to Newark for examination. They don't have an ultrasound, but a doctor examined her by hand and told me that nothing left in the region of her ovary so it cannot be the reason from the spay surgery. That said, he suggested me to bring my kitten to specialists. The specialist confirmed by ultrasound imaging and hormone test (ends up positive) that it was the ovarian remnant that caused the syndrome of our kitten. And another surgery is the only suggested way for a cure. I contacted Newark again with the clinical report from the specialist. Given that the doctor at the Newark did not feel confident to do a second surgery (neither did I), we agreed that I will go with the specialist and Newark will cover the cost. The surgery was done on Aril 27 and since then, my kitten has been normal. The surgery report (as attached) confirmed, once again, that the original surgery done at Newark was incomplete and left with ovarian remnant. I have sent through email all clinical reports and bills from the specialist to Newark right after the surgery. Since then, I have tried my best to communicate with them to address the responsibility of my kitten's case, including multiple emails and at least 4 phone chats. While I appreciate the patience of everyone I have spoken with, I have been repeatedly and consistently told that “we have received your documents and forwarded them to someone in administration, he/she will contact you soon”. The only thing I have heard from them besides that is pure silence, as if they had not done any harm to my kitten and I had not spent a penny due to their mistake. (I have paid more than $5000 and spent many working hours.) This is especially disgraceful considering that they actually have insurance for their surgical accidents, which is required by law and also confirmed by staff at Newark. Maybe you will be luckier than me when sending your pets to Newark, but whenever they make a mistake, my experience clearly shows that they will not take any responsibility. I have proofs of all above information.

Was not able to speak to the vet to go over my dogs dental surgery however the vet techs were very helpful and answered all the questions I had. They don't seem like the kind of place that only wants money. I feel like they truly care for our pets. Also, I had went to 3 other vets to get estimates on my dog's surgery and Newark pet Clinic had the best price and provided excellent care.

I been coming to Newark Pet Clinic for a few years now I loved the team who worked there, they were so nice to me and especially to my dog/baby. I went there today and had the horrible customer service her name was Sarah she was really rude !!! I’ve never seen her before there. There’s a lot more to it. My dog is a very good dog and loves every one. I also didn’t like how she treated my baby. I will no longer go there or my relatives that take there pets won’t go there again. This is all because of Sarah . Sarah you should not work at a place that you need to be nice because you have the worst customer service I know.

Very unhappy with the lack of response from this business. I had purchased a puppy package which included all vaccinations as well as microchip. Well luckily my pup got all her vaccinations but not the microchip. I tried for 2 weeks to call but could not leave a message due to voice mailbox was full. I then sent an email and got the response back that they were closed due to staffing issues. How hard would it be to change their outgoing message to reflect the closure. I have requested a refund for not getting the microchip that I already paid for but no response. Sorry they are having staffing issues, but not my problem!
