How to Save Money at The Animal Wellness Center of Danville

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Our family is new to The Animal Wellness Center of Danville, but we’ve seen Dr. Connor before in Pleasanton. We’re very happy an appointment was available in the same day because it was clear our cat not only wasn’t feeling well after a cat fight, but he also needed medical attention. We are so thankful Dr. Connor said no bones were broken and antibiotics were given plus we waited in an exam room while test results were completed. It’s so convenient to see the treatment on the tablets plus pay quickly too. The treatment room was not only spacious and clean, plus there was plenty of room to sit comfortably with treats and toys available if needed. We definitely plan on returning for follow-up vaccines and any additional veterinary care our cat needs because we feel like the staff will give the most excellent care with kindness, and we trust the veterinary expertise as well; How nice they even sent a follow-up text the next day to check in on how our cat was doing! It’s a relief and comfort to know we can rely on The Animal Wellness Center of Danville!

Phenomenal staff and facility! The Animal Wellness Center of Danville has been absolutely wonderful! Dr. Bloomberg and her team have provided exceptional care for our pup, Maggi. Since May 2025, Maggi has been working through an injury, and under Dr. Bloomberg’s attentive guidance, she has made encouraging progress. Through regular checkups and the additional services coordinated with specialist veterinarians including acupuncture and chiropractic care. Maggi has truly benefited from their expertise and compassion. We are so grateful for the dedication of Dr. Bloomberg and her staff, and we look forward to continuing Maggi’s care at the Animal Wellness Center of Danville.

Five star for everything! We followed Dr Bloomberg when she was at another clinic. This brand new clinic just opened earlier in Spring 2025. The waiting room for the pets is super friendly. Each patient waiting room has a sofa and carpet which makes it feel homey for pets and human. This is my first visit w my dog to this clinic and we were welcomed with super friendly front staff. The wait for Dr was short. Dr Bloomberg evaluated my dog and gave him what he needs for his problem. The vet tech Gillian always made our visit super pleasant. She is very knowledgeable and helpful. Our dog got a free nail trim as well on this visit. Each visit comes with a free nail trim. I highly recommend anyone looking for a veterinarian in Tri Valley. If you are wondering how they operate here are the steps. 1. Vet tech would come in the room to see what the problem is. She take notes. 2. Dr come in the room to examine your pet and gives suggestions for treatment 3. Vet tech comes in with her laptop to show you the cost of treatment then you can agree or disagree 4. The manager comes in for payment 5. Vet tech comes in and brings your pet to the back room and do the work there(vaccines/medicine). This is a bit different at some other clinics where the vet tech or dr perform inside the exam room. She would also ask if you want your pet to get nail trim. 6. Family waits in the exam room 7. Pet comes back happy and we are done!

Wow wow wow. I am giving the Animal wellness Center 1 million stars. 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 Dr, Bloomberg and the entire team at the Animal wellness Center are so awesome, professional and kind. Dr Bloomberg is one of the smartest Veterinary doctors that I have ever met. She is brilliant, and she really knows her stuff. I called today to get a refill for my kitty’s prescription. My upcoming appointment wasn’t for few more weeks. I realized this morning that I needed the prescription sooner. I was in a bind being that I had to be at work and I didn’t see how I was going to be able to squeeze in an extra veterinary visit with work. I called and explained my situation to the front desk team member. The person I spoke with was so kind and helpful. She told me not to worry, because they could pull up my kitties records and talk with the doctor to see about refilling the prescription. They they got back to me very quickly. I was able to leave work to go pick up the prescription that same day. What a relief that I was able to get his medicine that same day and bring it home to give to him right away. I have been bringing my pets to Dr Bloomberg for five years now. I have consistently received the kindest and most professional service every time I call and visit her office. She is always happy to answer all of my questions regarding my pets. She does a great job, explaining everything not to mention that she is excellent at listening while I explain anything that may be going on. I am so lucky to have found such a wonderful doctor and team for my pets. I cannot say enough great things about Dr Bloomberg and the team at the Animal Wellness Center Veterinary office in Danville California.
