How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Gold Country Veterinary Hospital

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

These folks are very accommodating and kind. My special needs dog woke up with a gnarly UTI this morning and I called almost every vet that was open in the area looking for an urgent appointment. Gold Country Vet was able to squeeze us into their schedule on a Saturday and get the urinalysis done and antibiotics given within an hour (which they rushed through since he couldn’t be left at the vet due to his wheelchair). Everyone was friendly and sweet to my dog. Also the waiting room was large and nicely laid out so that dogs don’t have to get too close to each other. Definitely recommend this place, especially for an urgent care visit that isn’t quite emergency room status.

Had my rabbit neutered at this hospital. Wonderful experience all around. My rabbit did very well with zero complications. Staff was kind, friendly and accommodating. Dr. Griffiths kept me well informed and BONUS: the price is by far the lowest I have found which makes it possible to care for our pets and it is obviously their goal to provide excellent and affordable services. Great place!

Gold country veterinary hospital was the most caring & thorough veterinary clinic I’ve ever been too. My very old kitty received the best possible care; & was treated & cared for with knowledge & love. My kitty was not treated as “just another” animal; but was treated as an individual beloved family member. I would highly recommend Gold Country Veterinary hospital for your pets needs & care.

We bring our babies here and they take excellant care of them. We love the staff and drs. Im always fearfull of what the cost will be, but pleasantly suprised when i find out how much to visit actually ends up costing. I have necer called to get a baby in and been turned away or told to wait for days due too over booking either which has been an issue at previous vet hospitals. They have always seen us same day when needed. I almost wanna keep them to myself but they deserve the great review and then some.

BEWARE OF PREDATORY PRACTICES HERE. Brought my cat for a suspected abscess on his neck. Saw Dr. Johnson, who told me they did an ultrasound on my cat and it's "100% not an abscess" it's an "enlarged lymph node," then proceeded to run down the list of testing I would need to pay for in order to rule out cancer. I could tell immediately she was lying to my face. When I asked if she could perforate the lump to see what's inside, she refused. She was extremely cocky about it too, like this has worked numerous times before, so it would for sure work on me. I stopped services there. I requested to get my cat back, who was not shaved at all-- anywhere-- so how was an ultrasound done? Dr. Johnson then doubled down and told me TWO vets looked at this phantom ultrasound that miraculously happened without shaving my cat's hair and they both agreed it was a lymph node. Long story short, I took my cat to an honest vet who did shave the lump, took a sample, and saw it was an abscess. He received antibiotics and is doing fine. Practices like the service I received at Gold Country are detestable and should be banned. Do better.
