How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Southwest Veterinary Oncology
Preventive care
Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.
Compare prescription pricing
Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.
Consider pet insurance
Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Words cannot express the immense gratitude I have for everyone on the Southwest Veterinary Oncology team. My soul dog Ernie, who was diagnosed with T cell lymphoma 16 months ago at just 5 years old, just passed over the rainbow bridge this week. This team loved Ernie as we did - they told him how much of a perfect angel he was everyday he came in. Ernie would run up wagging to all the sweet techs who came to greet him, they would give him all the treats he asked for and they loved and kissed on him his last day there. Dr. Wood and the team gave us the best 16 months with our boy, for that we are so grateful. I cannot recommend this team enough. I don’t think my review does justice for the amazing expertise and compassion. Thank you Dr. Wood, Paige, Phoebe, Mari, Jess and everyone else who helped give Ernie more happy days. ♥️

My dog was a patient of Southwest Oncology for about 2 months, and even though it's a place you never want to end up, this is the place to go if your pet has cancer. In a couple short months the vets, the technicians, and the front desk staff became friends that I'll never forget. I appreciated everything that they did for my dog and they never gave up on him and fought so hard to give him the best chance possible. They called to check in on us frequently and never once made me feel like they didn't have the time for us. Any questions I had were answered thoroughly and compassionately. It takes extremely dedicated and special people to do the job that they do and they do it well. I'll forever be grateful for the care that they gave to my dog. If you do end up in the unfortunate position to have to end up at the oncologist with your best friend, just know that the staff here will fight hard to beat the cancer or give your pet the longest life possible.

Southwest veterinary oncology overall is exceptional! Receptionist make you feel welcomed and cared for ,and vet techs love the pups. Dr. Wood was the the most outstanding Dr. i have ever encountered. I am so thankful for her and her knowledge. She treated our boys lymphoma and gave us 1 whole extra year with our boy and i will forever cherish her and the whole staff for that. Our boy knew every Wednesday it was treatment day and was always super excited to be with them until his last visit.

As a veterinarian, I have referred many patients to southwest veterinary oncology and regularly ask advice and now they have been helping me care for my own dog. Thomas sees them for radiation treatments. The doctors and techs as well as reception team are professional, compassionate, knowledgeable, and effective. Dealing with pets who have cancer and their owners is challenging. They are the best.

At around her 4-5 year mark, my dog developed a squamous cell carcinoma (and another type I can't remeber the name of) that would continuously grow all over her skin. Thanks to Dr. Klein and her team, my dog passed from old age instead of cancer. Thank youfor taking care of Lin, my dalmatian mix. She liked getting treats from everyone on the team. Though she required treatment the rest of her life, it's comforting to know that it was simply her age that caught up to her and not cancer. I suppose in a way, she beat the cancer before it beat her, thanks to you and the team.
