How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Pantano Animal Clinic

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Just had the BEST experience here. From scheduling the appointment, to being seen and everyone in between I had the BEST experience at a vet I have ever had. I came in with so much anxiety and worry for my dog (who is also very nervous at the vets) and the staff all went above and beyond to try and help ease my fears/worries. I felt so heard and understood talking with the fabulous Vet and the amazing vet Tech. They listen intently, gave me so many suggestions, let me ask all my questions and never made me feel rushed. I felt their answers were right on point and trust everything they said as it was clear they were invested in what was best for my pup while also keeping things as affordable as possible and in steps if we needed to. I just can’t say enough great things. I am thrilled to have the weight of finding a vet and staff I trust off my shoulders. I will certainly be returning to have my pups treatments here from now on and look forward to working with all of the Team here again. Let me add they were able to get me in almost right away and allowed a side entrance right back to her room bc they knew my dog was anxious and that helped tremendously! A+++++ forever thankful!

The staff at Pantano Animal Clinic and Dr. Truong are very friendly. They provide excellent care for pets, ensuring their health and well-being are prioritized, and they listen to your concerns and provide thorough explanations of your pet's health needs. I couldn't ask for a better place for my pets.

We recently took our cat to this clinic after he suddenly became very sick, and unfortunately, our experience was incredibly disappointing and frustrating. From the start, the staff seemed confused, lacking clear communication, and didn’t display much compassion. It left us feeling more confused and anxious about our cat's condition. The clinic's website mentioned that the initial visit includes a dental check, but we don't believe this was thoroughly done. After a blood test came back negative, they suggested additional expensive tests, including extensive blood work and X-rays. These tests were not cheap, and their only advice was to apply for Care Credit if we couldn't afford them. We even asked which test would be the most important if we had to choose, and they recommended the blood test. Throughout our interactions, we felt like we were speaking with a salesperson rather than a compassionate veterinary professional. We agreed to the extensive blood test out of concern for our cat’s declining health, but when we came back for the follow-up, the results were inconclusive, with vague explanations like “I don’t know” and “we’re not sure.” It felt rushed, and we weren’t given enough information about what the tests were for, what we should be looking for at home, or why we were being advised to do them in the first place. After spending almost $1000, we left the clinic with instructions to administer IV fluids and laxatives at home, because they hypothesized that maybe our cat just couldn’t poop. However, that night, we discovered that his face and lips were swollen, with cuts and marks on his gums. This was never mentioned to us during our visits, and it was extremely upsetting to find this out at home. We called the clinic, and they managed to get us in with a different veterinarian the next day. This new vet seemed unaware of our cat’s fever, despite it being mentioned in both previous visits. To make matters worse, the new vet mentioned that our cat might have ulcers but didn’t test to confirm it. We were given more medication, but they didn’t provide clear instructions on what to look for at home or how to manage his care, other than “if this isn’t the problem, it’s going to make him worse.” No pain medication was prescribed, even though the tech confirmed that ulcers are painful. Overall, the lack of thorough communication, clarity, and compassion left us feeling frustrated and hopeless. The uncertainty about our cat’s condition, combined with the rushed nature of our visits and vague explanations, was not what we expected from a veterinary clinic. We are still worried about our cat’s health and are left wondering if we made the right choice in coming here. I would not recommend this clinic based on our experience.

People were friendly and able to take my dog in right away and took care of him. Price seemed fair and call the next day to see how Martin was going and if I had any additional concerns or questions. Would use again and recommend to others.
