How to Save Money at Bell Parkway Veterinary Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Nothing but great things to say about this place!! Few days ago took my 6 yr old Aussie mix in for her first dental cleaning and everything went perfectly. She becomes overstimulated and scared at vet appointments due to a bad visit in the past at another hospital, however she did not have any problems here whatsoever!🥹 Techs and doctors were gentle and approached my baby with ease to avoid her becoming protective and aggressive. They also contacted me throughout the day with updates, gave her all the lovings, as well as sent pictures of my pup to keep my mind at peace! Truly one of the most caring and compassionate veterinary hospitals i’ve ever been to… Highly recommend!! (andddd on the more affordable side compared to competitors around Surprise!!🙏🏼) Also had one of my dachshunds treated here a couple months ago before her passing and no complaints. Took the best care of her until the end!🤍

From the moment I walked into this vet, i was heard & seen, as well as my baby girl. They did everything they could to ensure she was getting the care she needed. They were able to get my girl into surgery for a blockage the same day & left nothing uncovered so that we would understand. Unfortunately due to my baby girl having to have her quality of life compromised, I had to decide to euthanize her. They updated me through every bit, sent pictures, loved on her & made her as comfortable as could be & were compassionate & just as heartbroken as us. Thank you to this vet hospital & staff, you guys are truly amazing. Thank you for trying to save my girl, I highly recommend this Vet for any needs of your beloved furry pets 🤍

This past Sunday, while playing with my dogs outside, my older dog Roscoe had a terrible accident. He jumped up chasing the water from the hose, landed awkwardly in a spiral, and immediately cried out in a way I’ll never forget. As a nurse, I knew right away something was VERY wrong. Because it was Sunday, our usual vets were closed. In a bit of panic, I called Bell Parkway Veterinary Services, not sure what to expect as a brand-new patient. To my surprise and relief, they said they could see us within 30–60 minutes. I couldn’t believe it. When we arrived just 20 minutes later, the staff rushed out with a gurney and immediately showed such compassion, care, and gentleness with Roscoe. They carefully brought him inside with my husband and me by his side the entire time. Dr. Adams came in within minutes. She was so calm, kind, and reassuring. Her very first question was whether they could give Roscoe a pain injection to make him more comfortable, which I was incredibly grateful for. Once his pain was under control, they took radiographs to confirm the extent of the break and then sat down with us to explain everything thoroughly, including all options for his healing. The veterinary technicians were equally amazing—professional, supportive, and patient as they walked us through pricing, paperwork, and referrals. I wish I remembered all their names, because each one truly made such a difference for us in that awful moment. They placed a secure, beautifully wrapped cast on Roscoe’s leg to keep him comfortable until surgery, which we were able to arrange two days later thanks to one of Dr. Adams’ referrals. What started as one of the most heartbreaking and stressful days turned into an experience of true compassion and support. Bell Parkway Veterinary Services not only cared for Roscoe, but also helped my husband and me through a very emotional situation. We were so impressed and grateful that they will now be our new veterinary clinic for both of our dogs. I honestly cannot give them enough stars for what they do!

Thank you to the amazing Bell Parkway Vet team for taking amazing care of my two fur babies, Dr. Engelschall did an excellent job on my Jazzy’s (brown pup) spay. She healed beautifully and took great care of her as she is extremely nervous and scared of new environments being a rescue and educated me on heartworm prevention for my girls. Dr. Blackmon did Nala’s (blonde pup) dental procedure and educated me from a CT scan on where too look out for in the future of potential teeth that need to be removed. Thank you Bell Parkway for always providing exceptional service, will only ever recommend this veterinary office. 🐶❤️

Molly is a Yorkie/poo and needed her teeth cleaned. The whole process was very professional. Dr. Adams called me to state her recommendations and then followed up with another call to advise when Molly would be ready to go home. Met with tech, who went over the entire process. They called today to follow up. The facility is immaculate. Everyone is very friendly and professional. I would highly to recommend Bell Park veterinary.
