How to Save Money at Prescott Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

My dog had to have a TPLO surgery. I was sick with grief for my best friend. But Dr. Kyle Norman and his team took such wonderful care of my boy. I have had my dog since he was 5 months old. He has been with me for my first home, my first pregnancy. He is more than a dog, he is family. I'm so grateful my vet reccomended Prescott Animal Hospital. I truly believe they saved my dogs life. The team at PAH put me at ease and returned my boy to me with clipped nails and a clean incision. They gave us all the information we would need to properly rehab him at home in between PT visits and made us feel very educated and capable for our dogs continuing care. The feedback from PT encouraged us that we were doing a great job at home and our boy was on his fastrack to recovery. If you love your animal, take them to Prescott animal hospital. Words cannot describe the relief and joy I felt after my boys surgery, he still has 8 weeks until he is fully recovered, but PAH gave my dog back his mobility and his dignity. Now my Arlo boy can go back to his silly, playful self. Thank you Dr. Norman and team 💜

We absolutely love Prescott Animal Hospital and cannot say enough good things about the entire team there. The staff is not only highly skilled and professional, but also incredibly empathetic, hard-working, and dedicated—qualities that are so important to us when it comes to the care of our animals. Whether it’s one of our rescues or our own beloved dogs, the level of compassion and support they provide is truly unmatched. They treat every animal like their own and go above and beyond to ensure they receive the best care possible. It’s clear that everyone there genuinely cares, and that makes all the difference for us. We’ve had nothing but positive experiences, and we feel so lucky to have a place like this in our community. We will continue bringing our dogs here with full confidence, knowing they are in the best hands. Thank you, Prescott Animal Hospital, for everything you do!

Dr. Turley and his staff are the best of the best. I’ve always felt well cared for at PAH. When I had to say goodbye to my boy Frank everyone was so loving and wonderful. Dr. Turley sat in the floor and cried with me while he helped him out of his suffering. To me, that kind of empathy and compassion is worth all the money in the world. They’ve also been great in caring for my beagles. 10/10 recommend

Prescott Animal Hospital is a very clean, professional, well staffed and on-point facility available seven days per week. I was referred by a neighbor, nearly two years ago. I have two older cats that have had to have medical attention several times (chronic illness and occasional sickness and injuries). Staff and veterinarians are nothing short of impressive! Fantastic medical care and typically follow-up phone calls a few days after appointments. Exemplary and highly recommended!

Dr. Skinner and the staff at Prescott Animal Hospital are the most caring and kind people in the business. They are never exploitive, and strive to find solutions that best meet the needs of my dog and myself. They aren't the best in Prescott, they're the best everywhere. We're lucky to have PAH in our town.
