How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Small Animal Clinic

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Getting to Know Your Veterinarian

Experience

Ask whether the clinic has experience treating your specific type of pet, since care can vary between dogs, cats, and pocket pets.

Emergency Care Procedures

It’s helpful to understand how the clinic handles after-hours emergencies, including whether they provide emergency services or refer to nearby emergency hospitals.

Communication Preferences

Ask how the clinic communicates with pet parents, including updates, test results, and follow up questions.

Breed Specific Health Considerations

Some breeds may be more prone to certain health conditions. Early awareness can help with prevention and early treatment.

I have used Small Animal Clinic for many years for vet care and boarding. From the front desk staff to the vet techs and Vets - each has been professional and care-driven. The care my 5 present “little kids” have been given has been exemplary & filled with kindness and care. I have had the hard decision to put two dogs down in the 10+ years I have had them as my vet service - and this was done compassionately to both my pets and myself. I didn’t have forms and charges pushed at me at the front desk like some vet services do before going to the exam rooms - it was all about my very sick pets here. It was ok that tears were streaming down my face…. Nothing was rushed. I love each of the vets. I love the front desk staff and techs. I can call for a further question not asked at a visit - and a response or prescription is given within hours. I have found both of their offices to be well run and people and pet friendly. I have used both locations if a vet wants to see one of my pets back themselves within a few days for follow up - and while further away - it is fine for me to meet them at whichever one they will be at. They have been a god send! I won’t go anywhere else. They have my complete trust in wanting to make my babies well and happy.

If a zero star was a possibility, that's what I would have given them. This place has really gone downhill over the years. I've brought my animals to them for years and years. My senior pupper is constantly having anal gland issues. I'm at a place right now where I can't afford a vet visit. I called and askedif I could just pay for some antibiotics for him and they said no he would have to schedule an appointment. I explained that I had no money and they said, "well, sorry about that". So I guess my little doggo is just going to die from an infection. The vet that used to work there would have helped us out. You have lost my service, and you've made a small fortune off of me over the years.

I have been bringing my Sebastian to The Small Animal Clinic since he was a puppy, almost 5 years now. He always gets the attention and service he needs from the knowledgeable staff and is taken care of and diagnosed appropriately. I have never seen any of the staff with anything less than a smile! Appointments are quick and easy. Usually in and out within an average of about 30 minutes. Very prepared and organized when we arrive! I can't imagine having to look into changing veterinarians and can't find a reason I would ever have to! They have taken great care of my little man and make sure he is and stays healthy!! Love these guys! Thank y'all for all you do!!

Dr. Wolfe and staff are fantastic. Prices are fair and they do a good job taking care of your pet. Very thankful to have them. They have done a good job taking care of my cat Aubie since he was a kitten. Highly recommended.
