How to Save Money at Osborne Animal Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

My dog had a spay surgery here and she came home completely covered in her own urine. I cannot believe anyone would allow that. Makes me wonder how long she had to use the bathroom before she had to use it in the crate they had her in and then how long she had to sit in it. Abusive and neglectful behavior.

Dr. Osborne is great, BUT... If you get a quoted price for something, PLEASE GET A PRINT OUT of it because when you bring your pet back for surgery or what ever the case may be, the price will change to a higher one. This just happened to me. I've taken my cats here for some time and my cat needed surgery on her belly for a mass. A week before the surgery I ask how much it will cost for updated shots, nails clipped, and surgery. I was told a price but I didn't get a print out, I didn't think I'd need to. Well I take her in for surgery, go back to pick her up, and the price is over a hundred dollars more. When I ask about it the young blonde with braces at the desk looks at the paper and says "oh that price was just for the surgery." .. um no, I asked in advance...The girl that gave me the quote was there and I asked her about it.. first, she says "it wasn't me that gave you the price". So I'm standing there dumbfounded when she says " wait, yeah that was me and the price was for everything", Then she leaves the front and disappears to the back. So I say to the young girl at the desk, is the price what I was quoted then? With complete disgust she says "as I said, that price she gave you was just for surgery.". Even after the other lady just confirmed what I was saying? By this point my husband is furious with her attitude and asks if we have to get the staples removed there or can we take her some place else.. another lady chimes in and says "it's free here". She totally missed that it wasn't just about the price, it's the principle. My husband says I don't really want to bring my pets back here if this is how things work. All the while he's talking, the young blonde with the braces is shoo-ing us out with her hand and loudly telling us BYE HAVE A GOOD DAY, HAVE A GOOD DAY! We weren't out of line and didn't say anything out of the way, I was confused why her reaction was so nasty. So we went out the door. That's when I realized after we were basically kicked out that we weren't even given her antibiotics or pain meds. So I had to go back inside and ask for it, thankfully it was a different lady, Ms Tracy, who witnessed the whole thing.. At this point I'm beyond disappointed and I asked if I would've left and didn't come ask for it would my cat have just been without them? Sarcastic and awful I know but by this point I was over it. Nicely, She says I would've called you and then she went over the directions, I said thank you and left. What a great lady to be so kind after I was being sarcastic. I'm still shocked that this all happened. I had thought so highly of the place. Not once was I told that they were sorry it was a miscommunication, or that there was a mix up or anything. That young girl's attitude was basically - oh well too bad for you now get out- Dr Osborne never seemed like the kind of man to run a business in that way. He has always been kind, straight to the point, and helpful. So please make sure you get your quoted prices printed out!
