How to Save Money at Center For Animal Healing

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

This is the most amazing place.... they have saved my dog's life twice so far she's 161/2 years old. And if it wasn't for the center for animal healing Haiey would have been gone a long long time ago.... I will be forever grateful .... I also brought my other dog here she is no longer with me she passed away one month shy of her 19th birthday. I also brought my cat here.... I can't say enough good things about this place we are truly blessed to have to have a place like this in our area!

We have 3 doodles and the oldest bad breath and teeth were in need of cleaning. I called and set up appt and from start to finish this place was a breath of fresh air. No sedation and my doodle was happy the whole time. They even walked by me in the waiting room and she did not try to get to me. I first must say at the groomers and vet, she does not go with them. I literally have to walk her back. When she came out, she was just as happy with the technician as when she went in. I just could not believe it and we were in and out in about 40 minutes. No skipping meals and no all day appt. I am amazed. My next one will be my little doodle. They even give you a dental report on their findings. Did I say I was amazed!!!

Before I begin the review I want to say that my dog is reactive and does not do well with other dogs. The staff here are incredible and ensure that my dog can get in and out without any issue or coming across the path of another dog. My baby girl Fai has a torn ACL. I really didn't want to put her through surgery, but it was affecting her quality of life. She was lazy and didn't really want to do anything. My trainer at HalfMoon Bay suggested this place because she knew they could possibly help me avoid surgery. The surgery is $6000+ and has a 12 week recovery time for those who don't know. This doctor told me they believe they can fix her torn ACL with no surgery. For microcurrent the first treatment included an exam for $295. We pay $95 for microcurrent treatment when the exam isn't needed. We have done 2 microcurrent treatments so far and she is already acting like a different dog. She has had a lot more energy and has wanted to play far more often. She also seems to sleep better again and even started cuddling up to us during bed time after the first treatment. She is so much happier and is clearly not in as much pain. We aren't supposed to let her jump or play too much while she heals but it's really hard to stop her because she's finally feeling good. I can't wait to continue to see her improvement over the next few treatments. Thank you The center for animal healing for providing a non-surgical option for my baby girl to get better.

I took my dog to Center for Animal Healing yesterday for the first time to get a dental cleaning without anesthesia. I have to say that since i entered the office i noticed it was a great team and environment. Organized, clean and spacious. Jenn and Courtney took great care of Navy and i was able to be next to them during the process. It is just great to know they can do such an amazing job without the need to use anesthesia. They answered all my questions and the most important part is that they treat Navy with love. Excellent team!
