How to Save Money at Allure Veterinary Hospital & Urgent Care

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

6/10/2025 I want to begin by saying I truly believe this facility showed genuine compassion and empathy during one of the hardest days of my life. I brought in my 10-year-old Border Collie mix, Dakota, after she collapsed and began struggling to breathe. I was terrified—my gut told me this might be the end. The staff confirmed she was in critical condition. I’m incredibly grateful for how the vet techs and veterinarians explained everything clearly and kindly, including the difficult options I was facing. Even though I knew deep down that the most humane choice was to let her go peacefully, they helped me feel supported in that heartbreaking decision. They gave me all the time I needed to say goodbye in a private room, respecting my space and emotions. When my boyfriend arrived just as they were preparing to put her to sleep, they gave us the grace to share those final moments together. That meant more than words can express. When it comes to compassion and empathy, I would give this facility a 10/10. I know they did everything possible, but sadly Dakota’s diagnosis was grim—and even with treatment, she would have only had a few painful months left. The kindness they showed not only to her but to me in those final moments was truly meaningful. It brought comfort to hear them say she was still such a sweet girl, even while in pain. No one is ever prepared to make the decision to say goodbye to their best friend. But having a team that communicates clearly, supports you through it, and treats your beloved pet with dignity makes all the difference. What Dakota had wouldn’t have been found during routine visits unless advanced testing had been done. Thank you for giving us the privacy we needed, for treating Dakota with the love and respect she deserved, and for being there in our time of need. I will always be grateful.

We had to unexpectedly put our dog down due to an aggressive cancer that was found. Allure staff was very compassionate and provided us all the time that we needed to ensure the family could get to the vet to say their goodbyes. They provided my family a space and ensured that our dog was comfortable while we spent time with her. We were never rushed throughout the process and once we were ready, the vet came back into the room and explained what would happen. Once the medication was given, they allowed us additional time to say goodbye. Once we were ready to leave, the vet tech came in and was again respectful to our families grief, explaining what happens going forward and a timeframe of when her ashes and urn would be ready. Today, a week later, we received a package that included a custom coffee mug depicting our puppy with a card expressing their sympathies from the Allure staff.

They were so kind and helpful. We had to go in on a Sunday. My golden wouldn’t stop throwing up. While we were there for what felt like forever (we had been up since 4am and got there at 7:30) They had a more severe emergency come in that of course needed to be taken care of first. Danni was stable. Danni wasn’t a huge fan of the doctor herself lol but I think that’s just because she was “violated” not really of course lol. But they were so kind. The vet respected Danni by kinda standing by the wall when talking to us. The tech we had, Danni liked her lol but I think it’s because she held her when she was being “tortured” lol. They brought me back an itemized bill on the low end and one on the high end. I was so happy that they did Trupanion Direct vet pay. Literally a life saver. Trupanion paid $1,100 and we paid roughly $345. The first tests, blood work and fecal, were all normal and so they wanted to do an xray just to be sure it wasn’t a blockage or pyometra or anything else. We did choose to do the X-rays and thankfully my Danni girl was just sick. But they gave her a shot for the nausea which helped so much. I’ve been to vets who wouldn’t have even offered the xray just to double check. Danni/Danners/BoBanny/Banny is feeling MUCH better today. They profusely apologized for the wait but I didn’t feel an apology was needed. I understood that thankfully my girl was well enough she didn’t need the emergent help some other pets at that time needed. But that didn’t stop them from still giving their attention to Danni when it was time. I definitely recommend them especially in an emergency situation. A dog came in that had been attacked and I could hear them literally running to that exam room to help. Anyway. Thank you for taking care of my lightly toasted girl ❤️ and for helping me understand the results of her testing and the instructions for her medication. Yall are fantastic and I’m sorry I can’t remember the names of the vet and tech she saw.

Absolutely love this vet hospital for my babies. They treat you and your pets like family. They are kind, patient (I'm a slightly overprotective dog momma) and loving. Reasonably priced and I truly appreciate the fact that my Hope gets her regular check ups at the same place she can get emergency care. I took Hope about a month ago because she wasn't eating. They provided reasonable prices and advice and weren't looking to run up my bill. Luckily their low cost options were correct in diagnosing pancreatitis without all the tests and in a few days Hope was back to normal. She just came home today after having a dental procedure, including a tooth extraction that was unexpected. My estimate turned out to be higher than the actual cost. I was so relieved! I won't take my babies anywhere else.

While I appreciate the care provided to my dog, especially the scans, placing him in the oxygen tank, and administering medication to calm him. I was very disappointed with how the situation was handled by the late-night staff. From the moment we arrived, it felt more like a transaction than compassionate veterinary care. We were immediately told we needed to pay a $1,000 deposit before they could treat him. To avoid the 4% credit card fee, my husband rushed to a nearby ATM to get cash. The staff member told us flat out, "I would hurry because we can’t treat him until you pay the deposit." While I understand there are costs involved, the tone was cold and lacked any empathy for the emotional state we were in. Even before a definitive diagnosis, the staff strongly implied that our dog had cancer based on dark areas in the scan and mentioned euthanasia multiple times. That was incredibly hard to hear, especially when nothing had been confirmed. We chose to have the fluid removed to make him more comfortable, and we do appreciate that part of the care. Overall, I urge this clinic to show more compassion and sensitivity to pet owners going through difficult moments. A little empathy goes a long way.
