How to Save Money at Chagrin Animal Clinic Inc

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Dr Lubenger and the staff at Charin Animal Clinic are an awesome team! We have two dogs: a 7 yr old German Shepard (Bentley) and a 9 yr old Shitzu Poodle (Maverick). Our German has had digestive issues for years and he is on the skinny side. Dr Lubenger took the time to sit with us to truly figure out a plan to help our dog. Dr Lubenger narrowed it down to the food we were feeding our dog. The Doc suggested a prescription dog food and since that point Bentley has been great. Dr Lubenger was the only one that didn't just offer costly medicines and expensive tests, she listened and actually treated the condition. Well-done Dr Lubenger!!!! AND, Dr Lubenger is extremely accessible and a compassionate person to boot! The front desk staff: Elliott and Aly are both super kind and welcoming! They truly care about your pets and you as a pet owner. Veterinarians and their staff members do not get the credit they deserve. This team is AMAZING!!!! We will not go anywhere else!

We love Chagrin Animal Clinic and have been going there for about three years. Tried a couple other vets in the area, but these guys are the best, specifically, Dr. Binder. Our little 8 pound dog is a bit feisty, but they have found and documented the steps to make her annual checkups quick and easy for both me and the dog. They were also flexible with switching her medication’s for flea and tick and heartworm at my request after I did my own research. Staff is very professional and accommodating And booking appointments is easy on the app or online with friendly reminders via text and email which are so helpful. Can’t recommend this place enough!

Great service, super responsible, and very knowledgeable. I came into this clinic to get an International Health Certificate for my cat to travel abroad. Dr. Binder, who is licensed to do that is very knowledgeable. She knows the requirements and every little detail of the process. The staff is also very patient and responsible. We had some slight issue with delays on USDA, but the CAC staff was able to keep reaching out to the USDA and myself. They checked up daily on the status of my application and responded very quickly. I can tell these people really care about my pet and their job, they’re responsible and I trust that.

An absolutely wonderful animal clinic. They have taken care of my two dogs and my elderly cat. Today we made the heart wrenching decision of euthanizing our 20 year old cat who was not doing well. They made the process as easy as possible for us and really show so much kindness and care for both me and my husband as well as our sweet old lady DC. I was able to hold her in my arms and give her love and cuddles until the very end.

Extremely compassionate staff. I'm not a client currently, but needed to talk to someone in the industry, and a kind man named Elliott helped to answer all my questions and help me process some hard news. He is absolutely in the right profession, and I'm sure anyone else who has the pleasure of speaking with him or working with him would agree. I would absolutely suggest this clinic to anyone, they clearly hire the right people who care deeply for every animal. I will remember this next time I adopt!
