How to Save Money at Bond Vet - Bed-Stuy

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

My wife and I brought our 2 baby kittens to Bond Vet twice so far. We were seen right away, no wait. All of the staff were extremely professional and friendly. The price make sure my babies were healthy was extremely affordable. I’m definitely going to continue bringing all of animals to Bond Vet.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Calm, Caring, and Chihuahua-Approved! Just had the most amazing experience at Bond Vet in Bed-Stuy with my tiny diva Chihuahua, KDbelle. From the moment we walked in, the vibe was calm and welcoming — and KDbelle, who usually acts like she’s auditioning for a telenovela, was surprisingly chill. The staff handled her like she was royalty, and after a thorough check-up, we were thrilled to hear she’s in perfect health! At just 2.4 pounds, she’s either a toy or teacup Chihuahua — either way, she was treated like a queen. The clinic is modern, clean, and clearly designed with both pets and pet parents in mind. We even got a cute little goodie bag, and KDbelle is currently mulling away at one of the treats like it’s gourmet. Now, let’s talk cost — it’s not cheap, but when is a trip to the vet ever cheap? 😅 The care was top-notch, and they gave me great advice about getting pet insurance, especially since Chihuahuas are known for dental drama. Definitely something to consider! We’ll absolutely be back, and I’d recommend Bond Vet to every fur parent who wants compassionate, professional care with a side of style. Satisfied Fur Mommy

I just took my cat here after she was showing some strange behaviors, and they are wonderful! I was able to get an appointment in my ideal timeframe, and the online scheduling allowed me to relax a little knowing she had an appointment the next day. They comprehensively went over my concerns about her health, and they clearly described all the pricing for the treatments before moving forward. I appreciate the transparency on the treatment variations and pricing of each. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a vet.

I have a cat that’s starting to get up there in age and this was his first official vet visit. I emailed a bunch of veterinaries and they are the only ones that got back to me fast and with minutes. The staff took so much care of my fur baby and put me completely at ease. I was so grateful. They explained other details of his care. I was elated to have an idea of what I needed to do for him next. I will be back for more care and their high standard of professional care.

Honestly, my experience with BondVet was disappointing. There’s a constant push for extra tests and procedures that feel unnecessary and overwhelming. Instead of focusing on my pet’s main issue, they kept bombarding me with information and pricey recommendations. It feels more like a sales pitch than genuine care. The exam alone was $130, and they immediately recommended $500 worth of bloodwork. Then today, when I followed up by email asking if it’s normal that my dog isn’t eating, their only response was “let’s do bloodwork as suggested.” No empathy, no real guidance; just another push for costly tests. It honestly feels like they care more about selling procedures than helping pets. I’ve gone to City Veterinary Care in Manhattan before, and even their top-tier doctors never charged that much.
