How to Save Money at Veterinary Referral Surgical

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

My 1 year old doodle Willow had two surgeries performed here on her back leg. Dr.Noon said her leg was the worst he had ever seen! But he was confident he could help her! Dr.Noon was amazing explaining the process, keeping me updated during her surgery, and after. He took his time explaining everything and answered any questions I had! They LOVE the animals! I would give them 10 stars if I could!

Okay I'm not going to lie, surgery is expensive! My sweet Stella had an encounter with another dog that resulted in her left jaw broken in several fragments, leaving her entire bottom jaw just hanging on crooked and tongue uncontrollably hanging out. The staff here was very professional and the surgeon was top notch. He explained with much detail exactly how the procedure was going to go and she would need a metal plate with screws to hold it all in place. I'm glad I went with the surgeon I did, Dr Noone - he did an excellent job. Stella goes everywhere with me and I was horrified at what it might look like after he was done because the damage was so extensive. I literally couldn't sleep the night before I was so nervous about it. I got her back today and she is doing great. She had to stay overnight and the total wound up being over $6,000 but other than that I don't think it could have gone better - she looks like she will heal pretty perfectly! Here are pictures of her before and just after the surgery. I will update this post once it's all over and done with as far as follow-up and end result.

My dog was referred to this place to get surgery for his luxating patella. Dr. Thomas Noone was very kind and patient in the process of explaining all the options. My dog had a TPLO surgery. The process of recovery was slow as expected. But the staff was very supportive and informative in the process. My dog was finally discharged from the services and is able to walk again. I highly recommend this place. Everyone is friendly and I feel especially grateful for Dr. Noone’s services.

Dr. Noone performs miracles and we are so grateful he was able to save our little Higgins after he was hit by a car, and preserve his ability to walk and run! He literally pieced his shattered pelvis back together. His vet techs are amazing, so educated and caring too. It was expensive, but not as bad as people make it seem when you’re talking about an intricate surgery performed by a very talented surgical team. I only met the vet techs due to COVID, but I can’t thank you all enough!

Dr. Noone went above and beyond for our dog! In our consulting visit, he was able to provide me with several indicators of what our dog's initial treatment plan could be. Following our dog's imaging visit, I was able to speak with Dr. Noone at pick up. He explained, in great detail, what the x-ray results are at this phase. Even though we're still pending US results, I have full confidence in this practice's decision making. The staff are also wonderful. This is the exact care I wish I could get with a human physician, so it's wonderful they are doing this for our dog!
