The Claims Processing Predicament

I've had this Pet Insurance since March when my new puppy came to me as my forever partner to replace my 12-yr-old SD; I've had several visits to the vet and need to process my puppy's claims; it seems impossible to download claim forms from their web sight, and this is bothersome; in responding to the comment whether claims should be processed if more than 90 days go by, to me they should be processed up to six months following treatment; unless the company has some compelling reason to require the 90-day rule, and I can't think of what it would be--if there is such a rule, there ought to be reasonable exceptions to it--on a case-by-case basis. Incidentally, the Dog Law books should be on our shelves for quick reference when needed!

Would not recommend

I've had pet insurance on my 4 dogs for only a little overa year, and so, I had very little experience with any of the pet insurance companies. 3 of my dogs are relatively young (1,2, and 5), but my 4th dog is 13 years old. Because of that, I had trouble finding a company that would insure her (besides basic accident coverage) but PetsHealthPlan said that they would, and, so, initially, I was ecstatic. They requested her medical records, reviewed them, and then, noted one pre-existing condition -- hypothyriodism -- which is quite treatable and just requires my dog to be on medication for the rest of her life. Other than that, she was in perfect health. Well, within 2 months of obtaining the insurance, this dog came down with gastroenteritis -- a $108 vet bill, and of that, $91 was applied to my $100 deductible. So far, I was impressed with Pets Health...but also note that they had NOT paid out anything yet, but they were taking my $50 a month premium. Then, a month ago she started coughing, and after doing bloodwork and an x-ray, the vet finally diagnosed her with inhalant allergies -- a $300 vet bill. I submitted a claim and it was denied saying that allergies can result from hypothyriodism, and so it was a result of a pre-existing condition. I told my vet about this, and she said NO, skin allergies can result from hypothyriodism NOT inhalant allergies. So, now I am appealing it and they are saying "they are looking into it". Finally, about 2 weeks ago, my dog fell and slipped a disc in her back. She had a $2500 back surgery yesterday, but PetsHealth is telling me that it won't be covered because back injuries(IVDD) are common for her breed. The surgeon says that he doubts it is IVDD -- she just simply hurt her back when she fell, which should be classified as an injury. PetsHealth says it doesn't matter -- her breed is prone to back injuries, and it's not covered. I am very upset with this company now. I see how they lure clients in, though, and it is very deceiving. Their biggest point of advertisement is the fact that their plans cover "wellness care" -- routine vaccinations, heartworm tests, dental cleanings, etc. The problem with that is that those things are relatively cheap -- maybe $150 - $200 per year. Most people get pet insurance to have peace of mind that the MAJOR things will be covered -- not just the $150 routine, annual exam. In addition, when I called to see if my dog's back surgery was covered, as soon as I told the customer service representative how much the procedure was going to cost, he became very rude and attempted to end the phone call as quickly as possible. In my opinion, this company is just one big scam. Their premiums are ALOT higher than the competitors, and they won't pay for a single thing once it gets past your deductible.

Best Insurance & Customer Service Anywhere!

Pets Best is the BEST!I have researched until I could not look at my computer anymore before I selected insurance for my pets, and let me know tell you Pets Best is the best pet insurance company out there!! Number two: Khrystal Hinkel,in customer service,is an absolute gem, and I feel a true asset to Pets Best customer service. She helped me for over an hour to work out a new plan to keep all 9 of my pets on an insurance plan. I am sure you can imagine trying to have a monthly premium for all 9 pets was pretty straining our our pocket book. I work in the customer service industry and the service that Khrystal offered was absolutely outstanding, along with her follow up. I was so impressed with her commitment to helping me with a smile, I wanted to let everyone know what an asset fhey have on their team. Great Experience

Being in an insurance industry myself, I did a lot of research on pet insurance companies before finally deciding on Embrace. After my recent first claim experience, I can finally say that I've made the right decision. The claim process was easy and I like that there was a representative keeping me updated throughout the whole process. My main reason for getting pet insurance in the first place was simple, that is to prepared for the unexpected. Embrace is just what I needed. It doesn't cover routine checkup but covers just about anything else.

AKC Claims Processing is a Hassle

We've had this insurance since 2003. Claims processing has been exhausting, requiring escalation to their president. Now, they have a fairly new rule -- claims must be submitted within 90 days -- and a new form has to be completed each time, even for same illness -- and filled out by vet. This seems like bad faith to me. Does anyone know if it is legal to deny a claim if it's submitted after 90 days. If the coverage is in place at the time of treatment, then they should pay, yes?

# 1 pet insurance

Everyone that i have talked to at this company is great. They answered all my questions and always got back to me with a fast response. This insurance company was really a life saver for my dog, if they wouldnt have been able to cover the work that my dog needs i probably would have had to put him down.... I guess you could say they were my dogs guardian angel! We have really appreciated all there hard work and with a quick speed! I will be sending all my friends there way!

SIMPLY THE BEST!

I never really paid much attention to obtaining pet insurance because, after working in the Veterinary field, there was never a company that seemed to actually cover what you were paying for. Everything changed when I found out about EMBRACE PET INSURANCE. My husband and I have two Rottweilers about two years old and at 100 lbs. each, they are still our babies! We realize that when you have big dogs, big veterinary bills come right along with them. One day early this year, my husband's Physical Therapist was talking about this great insurance she obtained for her two small dogs. Unfortunately, she had to submit a claim for an intestinal illness. Fortunately, she had obtained pet insurance through EMBRACE and was amazed with the customer service she received and more importantly, the money she was able to get back! It was everything she hoped it would be. She told him that signing up with EMBRACE was the best thing she had ever done. So, my husband came home, we talked about it, and I jumped on the website. I was completely impressed with how informative and thorough the website is about the pet insurance industry and what sets EMBRACE apart from the other companies. The ability to customize a policy made it easy and affordable for us to sign up and secure the health of our beloved pets. Little did we know at the time how much it would mean. Fourth of July weekend 2007, my female, Bella, came in limping. We waited 24 hours to see if it was just a muscle strain, but no, still limping. My vet gave her a shot of steroids and some Rimadyl to see if it would subside. Unfortunately, it didn't. Next stop was to the orthopedic surgeon for an evaluation. Torn ACL. TPLO was the only option. Average surgery here in Florida is between $3000 and $3200. The surgeon talked about the risk to the other knee suffering injury from Bella compensating for the injured leg. We assured ourselves, that we would do everything possible to prevent that from happening, and submitted our Pre-Certification Claim Form to EMBRACE and hoped for the best. I cannot compliment the staff of EMBRACE enough. Every single person I spoke with was kind and compassionate, as well as, professional and efficient. Bella's surgery was successful and I sent in a claim form and the necessary records to EMBRACE. About three weeks later, I received a check. I received full reimbursement minus my $200 deductible and 20% co-pay. Simply amazing. After 12 weeks of rehabilitation, one day we returned from work and our worst fears had come true. She was limping now on the opposite leg. We went back to the surgeon and another ACL tear. We scheduled surgery the next day and submitted a new claim to EMBRACE. Once again, we received full reimbursement minus deductible and co-pay. Bella is now recovering successfully from her second surgery and it will be a wonderful Christmas present to have her 100% healed, walking, and happy! Obtaining EMBRACE pet insurance is the best thing we’ve ever done for our pets and we will never be without it. It is so hard to find a company these days that actually care about the services they provide and more importantly, care about those they are providing services for. Ask your Veterinarian to look into the company and order brochures for the clinic. Your veterinarian can be confident in the care he/she provides and confident that EMBRACE will provide for his/her clients. Thank you EMBRACE!

Love it!

Each time I submit a claim I am always pleasantly surprised when I get a check in the mail! So many weird unexpected things can happen. It's great peace of mind. I highly recommend it.

Best Pet Insurance on the market.

I took out pet insurance due to the high cost of medical care for pets in the area that I live, and Embrace was the most comprehensive. In addition, one could tailor make it to their needs. It never entered my mind that my pet would develop cancer (at age four), but Embace has covered all costs expeditiously and without question. Their representatives are not only professional but CARING, and go out of their way to assist owners through difficult times. I heartily recommend Embrace to anyone who has a pet.
