I wish MY insurance was this good!!!

I researched at least five different insurance companies before settling on Embrace and could not be happier with my choice. From the first call to go over policy options (I ended up designing my own policy that has worked out fabulously so far) to filing my first claim (which was reimbursed in full in less than two weeks!) i feel like the folks at Embrace really understand what pet owners need/want out of the system and do their best to make everything work seamlessly. They are the only company I found that covers hereditary/congenital problems which, especially for my breed, can be quite serious later in life. My dog, Whiskey, hasn't had any serious illnesses or injuries yet but judging from my experiences with Embrace so far, I feel very confident that should something terrible happen, Embrace will be there to help.

There when I needed them

My 6 year old Shih Tzu had been through many eye problems since she was a puppy including a corneal graft and a flap. The vet bills were enoumous and I was able to arrange for financing. After that I knew they would not cover her for a pre existing weakness but I felt after this experience I should have her insured for any other illness or accident because it would not easy for me to pay for any other emergencies. I took out the insurance and two years later I did have an emergency with her. An enlarged heart without any symptoms until it was too late. I submitted my bills to my insurance company and they reimbursed me for partial expenses and that eased the financial burden. I now have a new little Shih Tzu 4 months old and have her insuraned. I know if she should have an emergency, illness or accident my financial obligation will be partially covered. We also have a cat on the policy (he is 7 years old)and luckily we have not had to use it. I would recommend the insurance. It is there when you need it the most.

This is a SCAM!

In my contract they say in clause that they would cover the expenses of spaying my dog. When I sent the claim for the coverage, with the receipt from the vet describing all the charges, they denied almost all of them, because other clauses said they would not be covered! So, I thought, that next time, I would work in my receipt with my vet to do not show the things that they exclude! But doing it, I'd be as bad as they are! Therefore, I just can see them as a scam as they must be getting advantage of the name ASPCA. I can't believe that the institution that I see all the time in the TV shows thinks or agrees with these policies.

Nothing but praise for ASPCA Pet Insurance

My Chesapeake Retriever, Frodo, is 6 years old and has never really had any health problems previously. In December, literally right before Christmas, he managed to bite off a fragment of something he found in the back yard and swallow it. He stopped eating, and long story short, had to have surgery to remove the piece which has become lodged in his intestines. While I was at the animal emergency clinic, I saw a pamphlet for ASPCA Pet Insurance. I had never considered getting any pet insurance because I had heard negative things about it in general....that everything was excluded, etc. But, after that $3000 experience, I decided to give ASPCA a shot, and signed up immediately thereafter. And thank heavens I did. Not 3 weeks later, Frodo managed to ingest a ziplock bag of Motrin, which as you know, is very toxic to a dog. I took him to the same emergency clinic, where he was hospitalized for three nights while they stabilized him. The whole time, I'm thinking to myself "ASPCA is never going to pay this claim.....I just signed up!" But, I submitted the claim the day Frodo came home from the hospital, and about 3 weeks later received my check, and in the amount I was expecting. It ended up saving me about $1200 that I would have been out of pocket on after only a single premium payment! So, I have nothing but good things to say about these people...they do what they say they're going to do and you can depend on them when all you really want to have to worry about is your pet and his health. I would recommend ASPCA Pet Insurance heartily to ANYONE with a pet and who wants peace of mind.

Nothing covered

Well, so far very few of the services I've needed for my dog have been covered. I hesitate to submit my claims because I know I'm going to get the form letter saying how sorry the company is to give me the news that nothing I submitted will be covered. The services either took place before meeting my deductible or were considered "pre-existing conditions" which is extremely frustrating. Not sure it's worth the money, may consider just creating a savings account to cover future expenses.

Best Pet Insurance is Trupanion

I had researched pet insurance for quite awhile before I came across Trupanion. I got an Aussie puppy in September and wanted to make sure I had adequate coverage for this very active breed. Trupanion seemed like the right fit for several reasons. First, they cover the ACTUAL vet bill and not some predetermined amount designated by the area you live in. People that post bad reviews may not realize what they are signing up for. If you know what Trupanion covers you WILL NOT be disappointed. They don't cover the office visit fee which we knew when signing up. Coverage begins after 30 days upon signing up. You can deterimine your copay, the most is 90% coverage, which I elected for. Pet insurance is NOT for routine maintenance such as vaccinations, spaying/neutering or check-ups...it is for injuries and illness and I assure you if your pet has had either, Trupanion WILL cover it. In the past 7 months I have submitted 3 claims (2 for bladder infections and 1 for an emergency visit), all of which have been approved and checks sent within a week! This is amazing insurance. Overall for those 3 claims Trupanion has reimbursed me for over $700 in vet bills and the process of submitting claims was very simple. Customer service is very nice and friendly and they even left messages if more information was needed for a claim. If you know what you are signing up for you will not be disappointed...Trupanion is really amazing. I highly recommend them and will remain a loyal customer.

ASPCA

I have been very satisfied with my ASPCA Pet Insurance so far. I have had one major claim and it was paid promptly and within the terms of coverage, with no problems. Last year it was the same thing for just routine charges at the vet. You can't afford to be without it.

Great insurer. Actually stands behind its promises

Embrace is a gem. They stand behind their promises made in their quote and policy wording. Their claims handling process is personal (I wish health care insurers treated policyholders the way Embrace does). I had VPI for two years and they didn't pay a penny in clams. Now THEY are like health care insurers; always finding some reason to deny. My vet was shocked and kept urging me to switch to Embrace based on experiences of her other clients. I'm glad I did. I studied hard about Embrace before switching and this website was quite helpful to me in making the switch. My advice to everyone - READ THE QUOTE VERY CAREFULLY and ask questions, lots of questions, and get the answers in writing. An insurance policy is a promise to pay for a covered loss and Embrace does just that!
