Maybe I got lucky....
I was reading some of the previous reviews and was a little stunned to see how bad they were. I bought pet insurance for my dogs and was delighted to discover that they have a family plan at MetLife which is cheaper and it enables me to get unlimited coverage. We're always hoping we don't need insurance but I did. I had a $6,200 bill for Max and I thought this is going to take a while because it's a new insurance company for us they're going to have to get all of his old records review everything.. I was prepared to wait while my credit cards gained interest. Much to my astonishment my claim was paid today just one week later after the incident and probably 6 days after filing. I didn't have to fight with anyone they covered everything they said they would and the payment was in my bank account less than an hour after I chose my method of payment. I'm so very pleased but I'm a little scared because of all the bad reviews I've read. At this point though I can only recommend MetLife, they have done a really good job for us

The Worst Service I Have EVER RECEIVED - Total Waste of Time and $
I purchased MetLife Pet insurance for my 2 dogs in February. I pay about $200-ish monthly for the policies. My large dog had an acute injury by hurting her leg in the yard when sneaking out of my fence, ultimately tearing her CCL. For a month and a half they have refused to reimburse my claim.
My vet recommended that I purchase a brace for $900 instead of opting for a $6,000 surgery. So I followed her instructions and purchased the custom brace for my dog's leg, then submitted the vet visit, vet recommendation letter and itemized receipt.
I've spent 10+ hours on the phone with agents waiting forever, and calling my vet. MetLife at first denied the claim saying that CCL injuries are normal wear and tear on a dog with age. The Vet has proof this was an acute injury. MetLife called the vet one time to try to get proof. When they didn't get through after one attempt, they never tried calling again for weeks and nothing was done. Over a month later I'm still on the phone. I provided a second itemized receipt as requested as well.
They still won't process my claim or call me back or respond to emails. I want to be reimbursed for my claim and for the money I have spent on the policies since February. I don't want to deal with MetLife anymore.
The call agents at MetLife have been incredibly unhelpful. They refused to call claims to escalate the issue and said I had to wait another 5+ days for them to email her. I called this morning to talk to her...waited 40 minutes and they wouldn't pass me over to her. They said she was on a call, but then wouldn't allow me to wait for her to get off. She just didn't want to deal with an upset customer.
I will NEVER purchase pet insurance from this company again. Screwed me out of $600 and won't reimburse my claims.

Senior dog
MetLife Pet has covered both of my 11 year old dogs. The claims process is easy to use. They are great about staying in touch during the process and the time between submittal and reimbursement was very reasonable. I recommend the coverage for dogs of any age.

So glad we got this insurance
Wr adopted 2 cats after being pawless for a couple of years. I decided to get insurance, thinking it really wouldn't pay off for a few years. Within the 1st year and a half, both had major dental surgeries totalling over $4000 and Met Life paid with no issues. Approved within a couple of days and the money deposited within a couple of days after that. The online submission takes just a couple of minutes. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Satisfied Customer
I decided to get some pet insurance after adopting a six-year-old rescue dog. I had to undergo a lot of initial screening and testing for her and subsequent care. I’ve had nothing but a good experience with MetLife and I am glad I decided to get this insurance.

Claim Processing takes a while, slow to respond
Claim processing always takes minimum 2 weeks and sometimes more. They are fairly slow to reply to email as well when it’s about claims. So far they’ve been reimbursing claims as expected but it’s just a very long wait. Also sometimes the agent on the phone is just wrong. I’ve asked if I could submit a claim for a past policy, and they said I couldn’t. However that wasn’t true, so long as the claim is made within 90 days of service and the past policy was active during that service date, it should be accepted.
