How to Save on Veterinary Costs at VCA Gentle Vets Animal Hospital

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Gentle Vets has been a wonderful healthcare provider for my three cats, aged nine, seven, and two. They are great about getting my fur-babies in to see a doctor on short notice, and are always kind and caring. The only thing I would like that this vet doesn't do is that all care (vaccinations, blood draws, etc.) is done in the back rather than in the initial exam room. But the care my cats have gotten is excellent, and we are very happy with Gentle Vets.

Everyone there so nice....from front desk, to techs and the vet. Even before working on my pups, he invited me back to show me what and how they were going to do the procedure and ask if I had any questions. They were fast and compassionate. Office waiting area very clean and comfortable and even had outside tables to sit at and wait if the AC got too cold....always my problem with AC. Prices very fair and I went in with no appointment. Very knowledgeable about both my chihuahuas and boxer. Will happily refer people; and although there are 7 vets so much closer to me, I will drive the extra 8 miles, in traffic, to go there! Aloha!

I am very thankful for finding VCA Gentle Vets Animal Hospital. Our 14 1/2 Pomeranian/Bichon dog was extremely sickened from overuse of medication. Dr. Pang offered amazing care and advice by suggesting subcutaneous fluids and other alternatives to relieve him of his condition. Our dog is much better and living with his kidney disease. Dr. Pang is patient, answered all our questions and was very supportive. Thank you again to her and her staff!!

Just had our first experience at this facility to treat our dog. Dr. Fernandez did amazing with explaining treatment plan and pricing to make sure we were comfortable with everything before moving forward. I’m happy that we have a vet in our neighborhood that’s so awesome! Looking forward to coming back for all of our wellness and checkup visits in the future.

To begin, I want to say that I never leave poor reviews unless I am greatly wronged. We took our golden retriever and her new litter of puppies in to this vet and they initially(on phone) quoted us $110 for the initial visit per animal but ended up charging us $150 per animal. Also, in the exam room, the doctor said that an x-ray was going to cost $200 but when they gave me the bill it showed over $300 and when I asked to speak to a manager regarding the pricing, I said that because I was quoted lower prices that I would not pay more and she basically said, “too bad it is what it is, and you have to pay”. They held my dog in the back until I paid the full price. There are other VCA animal hospitals on the island, so I highly recommend you take the extra 20 minutes to drive to those.. I am adding this second section in addition to the original review to respond to your comment. After you posted this response to my review, I spoke with a “Manager” from your office and the person basically did not address any of my issues, but instead gave excuses as to why they thought that they were correct. The woman seemed to take it personally, and did not address my issues in a way that made me feel I was heard.
