How to Save Money at Warm Springs Pet Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

•Clean •Organized •Fair price •Honest Impressed and happy with the service from the front desk to the Veterinarian. The two appointments we've had so far ran smoothly and had little to no waiting. They confirmed our appointments within a fair amount of time. Once we arrived for dental cleaning the two nurses waited for us by the lobby and immediately came outside to take our dogs inside in order to avoid separation anxiety. Once that was sorted out we met with front desk and reviewed the services. We left with a quote and that's exactly what we paid, no hidden prices or upselling. Phone communication with service update was clear, patiently answer all our questions, we didn't feel rushed to end the call quickly, and paying over the phone was a time saver. Picking up the dogs took a few minutes to get them out, but since they had been under anesthesia it was understandable that they wouldn't be rushed out. They have two grass areas for the dogs to walk and do their business. The area is clean and landscape is well maintained. Overall we are happy to have found this office. We've had terrible experience with another veterinarian office where we were customers for 8 years. The other Vet manipulated us into approving unnecessary care because they scared us into believing our dog might be in a lot of pain. The unnecessary treatment cause our dog to become extremely ill and be hospitalize for multiple days. They also gave unapproved care and tried to force us to pay. We later found out they were being charged with multiple counts of animal abuse by other patients and the Vet we regularly saw had lost his license. It's fair to say we are traumatized from bad veterinary care. So all of that to say that finding Warms Springs has been a breath of fresh air and peace of mind our dog along with our new doggie will be well take care of. The one complain I did address with them was one of the dogs had poop stuck on the outer thighs. She might've had an accident, but she did go before going in for the appointment. I'm not sure how that happened. Front desk said they do their best to clean them before being picked up.

Honestly, I never leave reviews, but Warm Springs is amazing and I wish I could give them 10 stars. Our 11 year old dog tore her CCL in October and had TPLO surgery at Warm Springs in November. The staff is so kind and patient. We had a million questions, and up to that point had been overwhelmed by the different surgical options that our primary vet had presented us. We were referred to Warm Springs by our primary vet. Warm Springs took their time and did a thorough exam prior to issuing their recommendation. They made sure that we were comfortable with the final decision to move forward with TPLO. Their pre-op and post-op instructions were thorough and the folder of information they provided felt individualized and specific to our dog and situation. After surgery they gave us a copy of the doctor’s notes from the pre surgery exam and their observations during surgery. We were also given a copy of all x rays. The transparency relieved a lot of our stress and made us feel more confident going into the weeks of recovery ahead of us. Shout out to Ronalyn for being so supportive and comforting at surgery drop off and pick up. It made all the difference in an otherwise very stressful situation. It’s been three months post op and Lily is doing amazing. I can’t thank you all enough!

MY 3 y/o CAT IS DEAD AFTER A ROUTINE TEETH CLEANING AT THIS VET HOSPITAL!! PLEASE READ.... They are seeing too many patients to properly take the time necessary to ensure the safety of your pet. Please do not be fooled by their "transparency" approach. My healthy 3 y/o cat should not have died after a routine teeth cleaning. According to their medical charts, it appears that Dr. Debra Chen performed Stella & Oliver's surgeries at the same time. Is this even legal? THIS is how they're dangerously making up for the lower costs. Despite their claims that they monitored her during recovery, I see no evidence of that. I have been doing A LOT of reading regarding veterinary medicine and it's pretty horrifying. According to Stella's operative monitoring, her BP was very very low. Standard practice would have been to intervene but she did nothing. In fact, she increased the rate of the anesthesia. She doesn't seem to learn from her incompetent decisions either. Just look at their 1 star ratings on Yelp. Then her approach after the fact is to lie. It is a constant theme among their reviews and I experienced it first hand! They lied straight to my face and fabricated their documentation by adding a very general comment pertaining to recovery monitoring. They killed my cat, charged me for my other cat, AND charged me for CPR even though they are the reason Stella even needed CPR to begin with. This place is unbelievable and not to be trusted. Please do not read this and think I am just a looney reviewer and overreacting. They let my healthy 3 year old cat die because they weren't monitoring her after surgery. If they were, and actually taking some vitals, they could/would have seen that perhaps something is not right. If they intervened at that time, she might still be alive today. I know they know this is a true statement but of course will never admit it. They tried to lie about the frequency of monitoring they did and also tried to blame it on the breed of my cats stating they are "high risk." Well, if that were the case, shouldn't they have taken extra measures to make sure they were safe? Never in a million years did I ever think this would happen. Deaths that occur due to anesthesia are not as common as you may think. Don't let them fool you with the statement "you just never know with anesthesia" as Dr. Chen tried to do. Well then why did she do ok last year when she had a tooth extraction...under anesthesia?? Or when she only weighed about 4 lbs & was under anesthesia when she was spayed & did fine?? According to World Small Animal Veterinary Association's Global Dental Guidelines, "Veterinarians should not blame "anesthesia" itself for accidental deaths in the perioperative period since most anesthetic deaths occur when dogs & cats are not being closely monitored or often due to human errors." I should've known when I booked the appointment that it's unusual to be able to get an appt the very next day for a dental cleaning + extractions not for one but TWO cats. They're just packing in as many surgeries as they can in one day...so dangerous. This is evident by the fact they will not accept new clients but if you want a surgical procedure, no problem. Please consider other options. I wish I had read all the 1 star reviews on Yelp.

The staff/doctors are really friendly and knowledgeable. The price for my dogs TPLO surgery was half the cost of the other estimate I got. They did a great job on the surgery and with the follow up appointments. I would highly recommend them. I’ll go back to them, if my dog’s other leg needs surgery

Amazing service for reasonable price. I get my cat spayed here. As every pet owner I was very anxious about the surgery. Everything went very well and my cat become active next day without any problems.
