How to Save Money at Bond Vet - Glenview

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Dr. Kent Morton saved our kitten -- Ollie was diagnosed with feline infectious peritonitis after visiting multiple veterinarians who didn't do much but manage his symptoms. Dr. Morton took one look at Ollie and knew exactly what to do. The Bond Vet team took his care so seriously as he was on death's front door -- 4 months later with the appropriate treatment, and Ollie is the most rambunctious kitty living his absolute best life. We can't thank you enough for saving our cat's life!

Earlier this week, my sweet grand dog Takoda decided to keep himself busy while I left the house for a brief period by seeking out and consuming a large bag of various Christmas candies (hard plastic, foil and all). Bond Vet to the rescue! The team at the Glenview office was extremely accommodating, efficient, friendly and kept me posted throughout his treatment. Takoda is highly dog reactive and the Bond Vet team made sure that he did not cross paths with other dogs while there. The facility is new, modern, clean and the team made the process stress free from check-in thru check-out. They even made sure to follow up the next day to see how he was doing. While I hope we don't need them for another emergent situation in the future, I'm so glad to have them in the neighborhood. Highly recommend! Thank you Dr. Morton and team!!

The Bond Vet Team and Dr Morton were so helpful and compassionate and friendly when helping diagnose and treat my sick fur baby. Not much worse than arriving home from a long day finding your best four legged friend not feeling well, not acting normal and unwilling to eat. That would raise alarm bells and panic for most anyone. The team were quick and efficient and so friendly and made what would be an otherwise unpleasant experience with a sick kitty that much easier! Thank you and keep up the great work!

Glad I found Bond Vet! Dr Morton and the vet techs are so wonderful. I recently rescued a puppy mill dog with many issues and they have been so loving and kind and given top notch medical care understanding the special needs of my dog. They always take the time to answer my multitude of questions with patience. I am more than happy with their service and help. I would give more than 5 stars if I could.

Their quick actions, compassion, and professionalism far exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend them for urgent pet care. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I will 𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 sing the praises of Bond Vet for the care they provided to my cat. After a traumatic experience with an emergency vet last year, where I was pressured to euthanize my cat due to a misdiagnosis, I was hesitant to seek emergency care again. When my cat’s asthma took a sudden, drastic turn, leaving him struggling to breathe and lethargic, I decided to try Bond Vet for urgent care based on a friend’s recommendation. Booking an appointment online was easy, and the front desk staff were kind and helpful when I called to confirm oxygen capabilities and explain the situation. They even accommodated an earlier arrival time when my friend got off work early to support me. Upon arrival, we were immediately shown to a room, and within 10 minutes, vet tech Catie came in. Her timing was nothing short of lifesaving. Just moments before she entered, my cat started gagging slightly, which we thought was a hair stuck in his mouth. However, when he tried to greet her, he began peeing himself, then suddenly began collapsing while gagging uncontrollably. Catie acted instantly, scooping him up despite his panicked resistance and rushing him to the back to administer oxygen. By the time she reached the room door, his mouth had started to turn blue. Without her quick actions and the clinic’s oxygen equipment, my cat wouldn’t have survived. Catie and Dr. Jim Murnighan were phenomenal. They kept us updated throughout, clearly explained my cat’s condition and treatment options, and were mindful of pricing. Their compassion and professionalism provided much-needed comfort during an incredibly stressful time. At one point, Catie even let us see my cat in the treatment area once he had stabilized, recognizing how difficult it was to wait without seeing him. Every staff member we encountered was kind and understanding, and I never felt judged for crying while petting my recovering cat. This isn’t an emergency vet, but they demonstrated more care and compassion than my previous experience at an emergency clinic. I didn’t realize my visit would be life or death, and I’m incredibly thankful to have been at Bond Vet, with such an amazing team. 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂, 𝗕𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗩𝗲𝘁, 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝘆 𝗰𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲.
