How to Save Money at Country View Animal Care Center

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I recently had the pleasure of having the Country View Animal Care Center take care of my new cat. He is an elderly cat (15) that just moved cross country, and he was in a lot of gastrointestinal discomfort, and my regular vet wasn't able to fit him in for a couple of days. I truly love my vet, so I would not have otherwise tried out a new place, but I was totally impressed with the care here! They got my cat in quickly and treated him with the utmost care. They got his records from his old vet right away and read through the notes thoroughly. The treatment required my cat to stay overnight, and they kept him well cared for and comfortable. They also truly made me feel like they liked him and genuinely cared about him feeling better. I picked him up today and, in my chaos, forgot to bring his cat carrier. They let me borrow one and bring it back later, walked me through his treatment, and all of the follow up steps to help his recovery. The office itself is clean but homey, with a clear tie to the community that it serves. They went above and beyond for my kitty, and I am definitely going to continue taking him there for future treatment. We are a blessed community indeed to have so many choices in who we take our pets to, and you can't go wrong with the amazing folks at Country View Animal Care Center.

We rescued our sweet Dante from a local shelter almost 5 years ago where he had been living all but 8 weeks of his life. Sadly, he chronically struggles with respiratory issues, but the doctors at Country View are always able to help turn him around and get him back to his happy, purring, headbutting self. We're truly thankful for all they and their staff do to help us!

Through the years I've had quite a few dogs and have had quite a few Vets. Some have been good and some have been very bad. I always try to find the best care for my best friend. I have a Chiweenie that recently injured her neck after jumping off the couch. She is 11 and I recently learned that this type of injury is typical with this breed. I took Munchkin in and the Dr's prescribed the appropriate medicine. After a couple of weeks I brought her in again after no improvement. They extended the medicine. After a month of no improvement, I brought her in again. I had originally seen Dr. Harris, who is very good, but due to last minute circumstances, we saw Dr. Overstreet. Dr. Overstreet immediately called a conference with all the other Doctors and they all evaluated Munchkin. They ultimately decided that Munchkin would be best cared for by a specialist in Tulsa, OK. I took her to the specialist and Dr. Ricker was outstanding. He immediately diagnosed her - I followed his instructions and Munchkin is back to her ole self again. I just want to thank the staff of Country View. When you could have put pride and ego before the care of my little one, you actually helped her. Thank you a million times.

My wife and I were driving down highway 72 and this poor creature was walking down the middle of the highway. We stopped and gave the dog some water and called the police, and was told to take the poor dog to country view. She was so flea bitten and matted she looked awful! We waited for about 30 minutes on the side of the road. The police officer called me back and said they couldn’t get the dog for another hour and he asked me if we could walk her to country view animal hospital and ask them to hold her for an hour until the officer could pick her up. They laughed at us and said no they couldn’t help because we weren’t the registered owners. Of course we didn’t she was a stray. I would think that a company that works with animals would have compassion and empathy or be willing to help local law enforcement! Very disappointed and wouldn’t recommend them to anyone!

Im still in shock as I write this review that I never thought I would. I have used this vet office for more than 10 years and been very impressed with it. However when I brought my cat in for a rabies shot today I have never been treated so rudely in my life! First of all, I had to beg for the rabies certificate which is what I needed. The front desk personnel was new and I was told "Well I guess I can print it out" in the past it was always given to me with my reciept. In addition I noticed a young lady struggling with a junior large breed dog. I asked her kindly if she had ever had the dog in obedience training. She replied not - I suggested she might want to consider getting some otherwise he was going to be difficult to handle when he got bigger. At this point I was attacked by the more senior employee at the front desk telling me basically to mind my own business, this was this ladys first visit to their office and she knew what to do. In addition, before I even turned to go out the door she turned to the other employee and said "I hate these people who make recommendations when they dont know the whole story" In my opinion, not only was this unprofessional but offensive. If you are going to comment about customers at least wait until they leave. If this continues i will have to consider getting another vet. The vet service itself is great, but I dont have to put up with lousy customer service! These folks need some customer service training!
