Definitely a fan of VPI - VPI
Jessica Saunders, 8/6/2010
I believe pet insurance is such a wonderful thing to have and I have recommended VPI numerous times. I have had pet insurance on my dog for many years and have, as she has gotten older, increased the coverage. She recently tore her ACL. After the diagnosis I immediately called VPI and spoke with a customer service rep who was so nice and very helpful. He went through the benefits with me and explained how the totals work. During prep for the surgery, the doctor found a tumor on her shoulder which was also removed at that time. VPI covered about half the cost which, while it's not 70% or 80% like most human health insurance plans, allowed us to make a very expensive set of surgries more affordable. The thing to remember is if you want 80-100% coverage with low deductibles, you'll pay a lot for premiums, just like human health insurance. If you just want some help for emergencies and more affordable premium costs, you don't get full reimbursements.

Wonderful Insurance - Pets Best
Judi, 8/6/2010
I've had 4 claims over a 3 year period with Pets Best. It has been easy to file claims, and they have always covered the entire bill without question, minus my $75 deductible and 20% copay. Last year I got back the premium amount because of one foxtail-in-the-nose incident (ouch) and a concern that Hannah was losing weight, which necessitated blood tests. For the foxtail, I had to take Hannah to 2 different vets because it didn't look like the first vet solved the problem. They waived the $75 deductible on the second visit because it was considered the same incident. I was so pleased, this year I purchased insurance for my new (to me) second dog, Roxie. She was clawed by another dog about 10 days ago and had a big incision. Again, they covered it promptly. Unfortunately I didn't have pet insurance for Roxie when she developed nerve cancer right after I adopted her--so I paid for treatment myself. And although her policy considers nerve cancer a preexisting condition, it will cover her if she develops another kind of cancer. It's nice to have the peace of mind that the girls will be covered for unforeseen illnesses and injuries, especially as they get older. Roxie is 8 and Hannah is 11.

Worth Every Penny!!!! - Embrace
Shannon Lockwood, 7/29/2010
We have Embrace Pet Insurance for 5 out of our 6 animals (other cat is too old). At first I was a bit discouraged by all the detailed history I had to ask my vet to print out & fax to Embrace (2 yrs worth for each animal). But I am glad to say it is only a one time process so they can establish each pets medical history. After filing my first few claims, that minor annoyance was long forgotten when we got refunds totalling $659.23!! The wellness rewards is probably the greatest benefit. There is no waiting period & it covers $200 per animal per year for all the little things that add up. We spent a total of $1124.90 on 4 dogs, in a span of 2 weeks (vaccines, heartworm prevention, blood work, spay/neutering). Let me reiterate...We are getting back $659.23!!!!! There was no hassel. They received my claim via fax & the next day I received an email telling me to expect my checks! It was like Christmas! I highly recommend Embrace for all pet owners! If you love your pets as much as I do, you undoubtedly spend alot of money at the vet. Finally, pet owners are being rewarded for being responsible!
