So happy with Trupanion

So happy with Trupanion, our dog has cancer and they have made getting treatment so easy and with less stress. We have had to have some very difficult conversations as a family but Trupanion has taken much of the financial burden away and while we know our time may be limited with our dog we will cherish every moment.

adoro claims experience

I filed a claim and within one hour my claim refund was in my bank account, this is the fastest turnaround time I have ever seen from any company. I am so glad that I chose my dog's insurance through Adoro.

Sometimes, be less of a business.

We lost our dog to kidney disease 10 days ago. Trupanion sent an email saying they would refund the premium I paid for May. I thought this was a really nice thing to do for a grieving pet owner who has been paying Trupanion premiums for over 15 years. The refund difference would have been under $40 . Turns out they only prorated the premium and charged me for 5 days. I'm only getting a partial refund. I called customer service and got a "this is how it works" explanation at least 4 times. 15 years+ ago I find this business that tries to give the impression that they care about pets, is mostly interested in the money. And they're expensive. I enrolled my dog as a puppy but as my dog aged the premiums went up and at the end I was paying over $200 a month. So you can see how that $40 would effect a multi million dollar company's bottom line. I had been with this company for so long and I thought they really had some empathy for people who lost their pets but ultimately, that's not the case. I will not refer anyone to Trupanion again. I hear Nationwide has pretty good rates and generous coverage.

$25,000 in claims and they didn’t blink.

I have a pug and lab mix that are 12 years old. I would have lost the pug (Penelope) a number of years ago after she suffered a broken nose. $22,000 dollars in bills and I only had to pay around $5k. My recent visit was for my normally healthy lab mix (Gus). This was a gastrointestinal issue and, once again, Trupanion was there to insure he was given the best of care. I always know my furry kids are well protected with Trupanion in their corner. Your claims process is seamless and straight forward and your friendly staff always provided me with assurance we would be taken care of.

No customer loyalty

I jave maily had good experiences with healthy paws. We have been with them for 7 years and now our policy is changing. It understandable that changes to future policies may need to be made. Current customers should be grandfathered in to the policy they have. Very disappointed with the changes and no loyalty to customers.

Claims Processing Nightmare

MetLife has been a nightmare in processing claims. The database they are using seems very disorganized. One claim doesn't connect to another apparently, so they will come back asking for documentation they already have. They have the wrong diagnoses that my dog never got on EOBs. I will upload documents that somehow disappear. If not for being able to email or call to try to get these things straightened out, it would be hopeless getting claims paid correctly or at all. It requires great persistence and patience just to get claims processed correctly. I typically have to go to great lengths for a significant period of time, including the initial uploading and filing process, then having to email, call, etc. The app is also a mess, as well as website (e.g., disorganized, mistakes). I give two stars only because they have eventually paid, but I can imagine many people would not be able to succeed in getting all the messes straightened out to get claims paid. Update: I replied to the MetLife response to this review and received a very disingenuous form email that sounded like AI and basically told me what I need to do to correctly file claims rather than respond to this review. I pointed out I did this review in response to a MetLife email asking me for a review in the first place. Their email, whether pure AI, which they do use in processing claims, or a person using AI badly, was just another example of how messed up their processes are in dealing with customers. I have dealt with some actual human beings that work for MetLife who were helpful in the past. That is what it takes to get the mistakes corrected.
