Grateful for Pets Best
After spending thousands in vet bills on two older cats, I got pet insurance for my two year-old cat, but wondered if it was a smart investment. Two years later, my now four year-old cat got very sick, and I was very grateful to have pet insurance reimburse me for the costs after my deductible was met. It is great peace of mind, making sure my cat is healthy won't break the bank.
Makes Medical Decisions Easier
I finally decided to get pet insurance for both my fur babies after years of thinking about it. I went with Pets Best after it was recommended to me by another pet parent in the vet clinic's waiting room. This year, my cat has suddenly gone through several unexpected health issues that amounted to a lot of medical bills. Amid all the uncertainty on her road to recovery, it was a relief to know we had Pets Best in our back pocket, making decisions about her care less of a monetary concern.

Ultimately too Expensive
I obtained Pets Best insurance for my brother and sister Labradoodles when they were wee ones, under a year old, at which time the cost was reasonable. Even though the reimbursement rate was sometimes less than I thought it would be, I stayed with Pets Best and was relieved I had done so when my sweet boy developed cancer at six years old. Insurance reimbursement helped, yet with increases in the insurance cost charged each year, I began to question the value of retaining Pets Best. Finally, the cost of the insurance far outweighed both what I could afford to pay each month and what they were reimbursing. At nearly $400/month for not even what I considered full coverage for each of my Doodles, close to $800/month was more than I was able to pay and I finally chose to drop Pets Best this year
Thumbs down for Pets Best
They never cover anything. I'm done trying to get coverage for basic stuff

Declined Claim After Being An Approved Claim
This company and their customer support must be the absolute worst in the industry. Our pet recently received treatment for an ear infection. Prior to authorizing the veterinary treatment and prescription medication, I spoke with one of their representatives. After asking whether our dog had been treated for this condition within the past 12 months, I informed the representative that the last possible occurrence was approximately two years ago when our pet was just 2 years old. Based on that information, their representative expressly stated that the treatment would constitute a new claim and would be eligible for reimbursement under our policy. Within a week of submitting our two claims on 10/6/2026, we received notice on 10/12/2026 that one of the two claims in the amount of $108.21 had been approved and applied toward our $2,500 deductible. The second claim, in the amount of $252.37, remained pending, and no follow up communication was ever provided. This is while our policy was still within the 30-day free look period. Upon reviewing our claim history last week, I discovered that both claims had suddenly been declined. This took place just after the 30-day free look period. I contacted customer service for clarification, and the representative stated that the claims were denied as a pre-existing, chronic condition. This determination directly contradicts what their representative initially told us prior to authorizing treatment on 9/14/2026. As I tried to further explain that we only authorized our vet to proceed with the treatment and prescribe the medication, the representative simply hung up on the call. I then wrote an e-mail to the e-mail address provided on their website and customer portal, pet_info@metlife,com, but never got an acknowledgement of receipt nor a reply. Furthermore, today there was a scheduled webinar for new policy holders to discuss how to file claims followed by a Q&A session; during the call and responding to incoming chat information, the moderator kicked me out of the session after bringing up my experience over our denied claim. The message here for anyone considering Metlife Pet Insurance - Be aware of their deceptive practices. They lure you in with friendly sales representatives, lauding all the benefits of pet insurance and their coverages, followed by getting a confirmation of a potential claim being covered from their representatives prior to having the vet performing the treatment, only to subsequently having your claim denied, representatives hanging up on your call, and moderators simply kicking one out of their live webinar intended for new insured to learn about benefits and submitting claims. Metlife Pet Insurance also ranks among the most expensive insurance companies - one would certainly expect better service.

Pets best actually the best lol
My corgi ate a sock 😑 we were able to take him in to the ER late at night worry free because of Pets Best Insurance being able to help us save on the bill and the major reason I even got insurance and have no issues taking him in ever
Pet Insurance is no joke!
My 4 year old ragdoll had been vomiting for 5 days and stopped eating or drinking. I took her to an urgent pet care and had to do blood work and x-rays to rule all out all possibilities. It was not cheap! I submitted my claim the next day and received reimbursement minus my co-pay within 24 hours. Amazing! Having to pay thousands of dollars in vet bills was not in my budget, so grateful I signed up for pet insurance.
Fast response
"My dog had been limping for about two weeks even with rest and carprofen. I finally took him to vet where they took X-rays along with the exam, turned out just soft tissue but of course gave more meds. Submitted claim and was paid back within 3 days. Very satisfied!
Claims reimbursement
The EOB are very self explanatory and they have a great turn around time, within a couple of days to let you know if denied, applied to deductible or reimbursement. Very pleased with ease of filing claims and the status once submitted to the decision.
